when mine died i just got a drive that had been pulled from an 2007/2008 era imac straight from ebay.. it cost me about $20 australian dollars (roughly $10-15US dollars at the time). Ive had no issues with it, its just a Matshita UJ-875, nothing to special really.
being able to mount CD images and swap them would be handly if thats possible down the track. if it makes the top of your list someo day im happy to do a bunch of testing
Honeslty though im still dreaming of a scsi sdcard solution that has a breakout pin for the scsi eject command and allows...
In a perfect would we just need someone who can merge all the features of switchboot, system picker and System Switcher and create both a CDEV and standard APPL app and it would probably cover just about everyones use cases
you could also try using SwitchBoot
https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/switchboot
its a Extension that allows you to select a boot drive early on during bootup.
it doesnt let you boot different partitions on the same SCSI drive but if you has a few different scsi drive images it'll at least...
Ahh ok, I switched over to using the 128’s for my boards quite a long time ago now during the testing stage.
I’m pretty sure I have exfat enabled from back the too, it’s hard to recall though I did do a bunch of tests with different compile options back in the day…
I‘ll have to check out the...
sometimes I use a stripped down system 7.0.1 floppy image on my floppyemu with system picker on it, I renamed system picker to ‘finder’ and it boots up straight Into system picker pretty quickly. Would probably boot even quicker on a scsi image.
still would be great to have a ROM hotkey that...
im still using a couple scuznet devices with my daily driver mac's, one internal on my Se/30 and an external one that moves around with different 68k and PPC macs. i havent had any long term reliability issues what so ever fwiw.
@saybur what memory changes are you referring to?
Yes another version will be released at some stage... i've been thinking of possibly adding a scsi SD card solution to the board though so it could be awhile before i had time to do that, and i need to make sure the opensource licences used buy any scsi sd-card solution allow me to do that if i...
Hi everyone,
late last year i decided to fiddle aroud with kicad to learn how it works compared to eagle.. certainly not an expect in either. regarless i decided to made a dual PDS slot adaptor for me SE/30 so can use my network card and my gfx card at the same time...
my network card doesnt...
As a gluten for Potential punishment I just wanted to ask as it’s also secret pet
Love of mine to test things.
Is there any projects either software or hardware wise that anyone needs any external testing done on?
I should point out my main Mac’s are a couple of SE/30 machines, a 5400 in a...
Absolutely fascinating and also impressive to read/learn through all this testing and debug work being done to find out the core issue.
I was finally in the position to order some boards yesterday, green with gold plating etc
Not wanting to hijack this thread or anything but if there’s anyone...
yup, Sandisk are kinda the industry standard. pretty much all sdcard libraries are mostly/firstly tested with those cards above all else.
ive also have very decent success using Samsung cards over the last 5+ years. in both products ive bought or stuff i've designed myself, i cant really think...
while i havent used it from everything ive read the BMOW wombat is a fantastic device, but being able to go USB>ADB and ADB>USB in the same device while supporting keyobards and mice increases complexity alot. its a product im my long....long list of things to buy for my vintage mac's.
however...
people alwasy rave about things that are cheaper then the competition, sometimes they are actually better and sometimes theres trade offs. but untilll someone whos versed in electronics design and firmware design chimes in i wouldnt take anyones good (or bad) opinions as the default fact.
while...
you need something that can run as USBHost, hardware wise a lot of arduino style boards can do it. probably something like the SAMD based stuff.. most of the teensy boards support running as USBHost too.
the main possible issue is going to be if theres a good USBHID driver available or not...
SE/30 with Romintator
i tested the following:
system 7.0.1
System 7.1
System 7.5.5
System 7.6.1
Can Confirm on each system version above this works perfectly, both toggle options also work with no issues, didnt bother testing 8.1 (8.1 is to slow on a stock SE/30 anyways) as im also mostly a...
if you have no internal scsi drive connected and terminated then you probably wont have much luck getting a drive on the external scsi port to be seen by the mac.
for example both my SE/30'srefuses to boot from the external scsi if i have no internal drive.
basically SCSI needs to be terminated...
its probably handy to have a copy of system picker installed too,
regardless if you hold 'R' at boot you should be able to boot a system 7 install from the ROM disc, from there you can use resedit to modify the 7.5.x system file on you HDD image following the instructions in the the links posed...
