    Modern display into Powerbook 190

Ok, thanks, then I'm going to buy polarized, and I've seen that it costs less to remove. I found this one, what do you think? Polarized film

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

So I need TN film? I had found polarized. Thanks for the RAM suggestion, apart from the voltage, the pinout is completely different. I'm not going to try it. I haven't looked in the buy-sell section because I'm in Spain, just the shipping and taxes would make it too expensive.

As someone already mentioned, I think it might be worth trying this method first. In this video it's very difficult to remove the old film, in other videos it's easier to remove. I found a 30x20cm film for less than 5€. I'll probably get bubbles when I stick it on, who knows. Vynegar Syndrome...

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

Do you have any link where this operation is explained? Is there any information available? I assume that this operation is common to Apple laptops of that time.

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

I'm still looking for modern display options. This display controller might be valid, but only if the internal flat cable sends signals similar to a VGA or the usual Macintosh DA15. I can't find the pinout of the monitor's internal connector anywhere. I don't know if looking at the IC inside...

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

Hello!!! I'm here to explain that I've managed to get an SSD working on the PowerBook 190!! It took me a whole afternoon, but it was worth it, you can see it in the photos. Tomorrow I can try to upload the image of the floppy I created (in Spanish) but I'll tell you the procedure. The main...

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

I've been trying to prepare a HD without much success. I only have 7.1 on the floppy disk and it doesn't want to boot on the 190, I would have to create 7.5.3 floppies but I don't have a floppy drive on a "modern" computer, only on the LCs. I've tried a 20GB HDD and an 80GB HDD without success...

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

Thanks for your answers. I'll have to do a lot of research. It's clear that the modern screen to adapt, like the 9.7" 4:3, would be choosing a lower resolution, of course, I don't intend to use it at 1080p. As I said, I use my LCs on a 1080p LCD screen but selecting low resolutions. Is there...

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

Maybe this adapter can work: IDE2SD Supports DMA and ultra DMA mode applicable to DOS, NT4, windows98se, me, 2000, XP, vista, MAC, Linux systems This has always been my initial suggestion, to use the internal flat cable connector, not the external port. Connect the VGA cable there, with a DB15...

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

If the internal connector could be used, the mirror option would not be necessary. Also, VGA LCD screens, although they only have one resolution, are capable of working at low resolutions, they do an "approximation". I have used an LC with a 1080p LCD with a resolution of 800x600, or similar...

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

The screen I proposed uses VGA. In my case I don't have a battery for the 190, it's degraded, so the VGA board that comes with the screen could fit in its place. The interesting thing would be to be able to take the signals from the internal display connector, instead of the external card.

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

Thanks for your answers. Although I'm good with electronics in general, I don't know if replacing the polarized film is one of my skills, I'm afraid of ruining the screen and then not having anything. Here in Spain it's very difficult to find spare parts, and even more so for a 5300. I've seen...

    Modern display into Powerbook 190

Thanks for your answers. I imagined that the internal screen communicated in a similar way to a Macintosh via DB-15, and since there are DB-15 to VGA adapters, and that modern screen has a VGA input, I figured it might work. So there is no solution for these old computers, use them until the...

    Shaphire Radeon 7000 issue

By chance, you may be right about the speed of memories. I still have to try it, but today I installed a Radeon 9200 PCI that works fine, and just when I opened ATIccelerator, which had higher frequencies, the image showed the same errors as with the 7000. So I'm going to grab the original ROM...
