Dumb question but do you have the sound and contrast sliders turned up? I have been caught out my this before. I had a unit which didn’t show the green or orange power light but was on. I just could see or hear it.

Everything from LC to LC475 all had the screw. I do remember a batch of Performa 400's that were delivered without the screw. We had to send a screw to each school who requested them.

They all shipped with the screw. It was considered an extra deterant to the theft of internal parts in education environments. The theft of RAM was a big issue. So was mouse balls but that was much harder to stop.

No matter what I try I can’t get the serial ports to work in Basilisk II however I was able to get them working in SheepShaver when using a USB to serial adapter to my Palm III and eMate. It was just a matter of adding the adapter in Settings.

The mistake everyone is make here and is a logical one is that the Performa was consumer only and the LC was Education. That might have been the case in the USA but wasn’t the case elsewhere in the world. Australia and most of Asia Pacific including Japan sold Performas into Education. Remember...
