Macintosh classic with horizontal stripes no chime already recapped

I think someone was working on a way to replace it, but I don't remember what the project was called. It's probably somewhere on here, though. Why do you feel it's shorted?

Macintosh classic with horizontal stripes no chime already recapped

Interesting. I got that effect when I shorted the pins on the side of the board to test my battery-bombed classic. It wasn't the expected behavior, and I got the computer working only when I used a repro logic board. If i had to guess the reason for your computer doing it, I'd say either one (or...

    Terrible IIsi

Hello Everyone! Picked up a IIsi for very cheap the other day (for reasons that will quickly become obvious.) Looks a little dirty, but don't worry. It's not dirt. Inside this machine was some of the worst battery-bomb carnage I've ever seen. The "MDU" chip seems to be the primary victim...

    ClassicGuyPhilly's Finds

One of these machines off Craigslist is what started my interest in vintage macs. I still have it, but the only drive I have for it has Leopard on it and as a result it moves glacially slow. Gotta put either tiger or OS 9 on it. (I'm pretty sure the graphite G4s shipped with 9, right?)

    obsolete's SE/30 Reloaded Build

I might have to do this with the IIsi I have on the way. And yeah, gotta love proprietary chips. Maybe one day!

Loud buzzing noise coming from Mac Classic

Same... with the exception of compact Macs. All of the ones I own are silent. I don't know if it's because it's black and white or something, but they don't have the same buzz that all of my other CRTs have.

Loud buzzing noise coming from Mac Classic

Maybe. And if that's the case, I'm probably just gonna have to live with it. Unless someone is selling low-hour flybacks at less the price of a whole computer, I don't see it getting replaced.

Loud buzzing noise coming from Mac Classic

Frankly, I have no clue. It has very little burn-in, but there is some. I just find it odd that the sound only starts after it's been on for a few hours, as well as it being loud as hell. It's completely silent other than the fan normally.

    obsolete's SE/30 Reloaded Build

I think it is! It's a lot of work at least. I'm looking forward to the Mac II boards, and seeing what people do with them. And good luck. I did my own Classic and will probably be doing a iisi and iici in the future. Edit: do you have any before pics of the logic board? I didn't see them in...

Loud buzzing noise coming from Mac Classic

Lol, maybe I just have really good ears - but I don't think so. If you crank the volume you can hear a kind of tinnitus sounding fluttery EEEEEEEE sound over the roar of the fans. It's also quite loud IRL, more noticeable than even my worst CRT's whine.

Loud buzzing noise coming from Mac Classic

Hey guys, I've been using the Classic I restored lately, and in the past week or so it's developed this issue where it starts emitting a really high pitched whine after being on for a few hours. I'll attach a video of the sound. I don't really know why it's doing this, and I don't see any...

    Macintosh Classic won't start

This, and I would get the rest of that capacitor gunk off the analog board. Honestly, I'd put some flux on the AB contacts and make sure they all look nice. They're looking a little splattery in your pic.

    iifx too far gone

Yeah, especially not with those Nubus connectors. Sheesh. Can you get those things new? I might look into it if there's ever a IIci reloaded, because I don't think the Nubus slots on mine work. That, or the network card I have is dead.

    Mac plus, with a surprise:)

Does the screen get all staticky? How does the 4 pin to the CRT look?

    mac classic recapping service

You got some pics? It sounds like you have the tools to do the job, so it would be nice to see what the situation is.

Are you using flux? Hold the capacitor in place with tweezers in one hand after melting a little solder onto the tip of your iron, and touch both the capacitor's contact and the board's contact at the same time.

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead, but do you have a copy of this software? I need it for my AppleCD SC.
