What causes the red to bleed off edges?

So i reflowed the analog and checked over the board again. I am not sure if i did this but the screen has a red tinge now. Screen still flickers lol.. so not really winning at this point.

A friend bought a color classic ii and recapped it. It works but display isnt steady not stable. Any ideas where to look!

As far as my experience goes with these pb100’s is that they are all electrolytics and all leak. I have had to clean all pads and holes on various machines. I have had beef’s in the past with console 5 over stuff like this.

As with most vintage macs and a lot of pc’s etc recapping is only part of the restoration process. You might also need to remove other components to clean leaked cap juice. This also means to clean pads and legs and check for broken traces and rotten vias. It can be quite a process...

I use all organic polymer caps now (mouser or digikey) tantalums are ok too. Just dont use crappy caps. Also clean pads well and ise isopropyl 91-99% to clean up the whole area around caps if there is a lot of cap leakage

Had a 3400c that was never able to recover from battery leak and it wasnt even bad. Really unfortunate but thats the way these are. Something in that area is potentially damaged or not functioning. Hard to know. If external output worked it would be at least positive and something to keep...

i just acquired a q950 and will have to recap the psu. Heard it can be a pain with proper caps etc

I have two 128k unaltered except i did replace the rifa’s with original looking ones. Didn’t want the chance to have nasty explosion. Also lucked into the first serial hard drive for the 128k, tecmar 5 meg i believe. So that makes the 128k even more productive:)

Ok, got it working but still has unstable image and little issue with top of diplay. Any suggestions? Is it voltage fluctuating?

Yeah unfortunately it works fine with a different logic board so i assume display and inverter are fine. Just something on logic board that is affecting brightness control.

No, unfortunately the display works fine with a different logic board so i think i will have to look over the logic board and do some more cleaning and check my caps. I was just hoping someone knew the schematics for the brightness on the logic board if any.

The screen works perfectly using a different logic board so i think it is a cap or something on the other logic board thats causing it. Anyone caps or whats related to brightness in the pb100 logic? Both boards are recapped

Have another powerbook 100. I noticed the screen flickers more than another one i have. I can adjust contrast but not brightness. I took display off and put on another powerbook 100 and it works properly. So something on logic board is doing that? Anyone have an idea of where to look? The two...

So after a few boondoggles i was able to purchase a 2300c along with a 280 somewhat local to me for a half decent price. Recapped it on weekend and all is good:) So now have a 2300c, 2400c, 1400c, 5300c, 280c, 270c, and a converted 190cs to a 190c now.

so grabbed the nupower installer and installed so now shows the proper information.
