Thank-you! Yeah for sure. What i find is that caps just fall off. I have seen leaks for sure too, so my personal opinion is that i will do all my stuff. Doesn’t hurt, well only the pocket book lol. I think things will always leak. They still can’t seem to make a double a battery that doesn’t...
So just in case anyone has this card and wants to recap it. My cap’s basically came off with little effort. Caps are 1 22uf 35v, 1 220uf 35v, 6 10uf 16, 1 100uf 6.3v, and 12 47uf 16.
Probably should if you havent, recap logic board, pci riser card, and psu on the 4400. I also recapped my 166 pc compatibility card. Caps literally fell off at a little twist
I think i did 3. All the logic boards seemed to work but could only manage to get one display to work with a logic board. Nothing guaranteed with these even with recapping unfortunately. Some people seem to have better luck than me with these powerbooks
So i bought a iifx logic board today. The old board was sold last year due to battery leakage. I dont know if the psu works, it should. Is there any way i can test this before hooking up to iifx board that was quite expensive?
Ok, thanks for that. I really didn’t want to take foil and separate lcd from metal bracket. Pretty sure its a samsung. Have another kanga showing up today so will see if its the same or a sharp.
Recapped my Kanga and took the lcd apart. Very similar to the 3400c but doesn’t say sharp. I couldn’t find any caps like my 3400c on the display and they look different. So hoping it doesn’t have any caps hiding. Anyone with similar experience? The inverter board had same caps etc. first picture...
Usually i have had to remove the sound chips and clean pads / legs and reinstall. Also, when you pulled old caps off you should always clean and check traces and vias for continuity. Sounds like something isn’t making good connection.
The reset button does work but it doesn’t chime again once pressed. The programmers button doesn’t produce the sad Mac chimes when pressed.
Like i said before it doesn’t do anything after the chime, no floppy or scsi activity. Just dead with the screen at the very top of the post this post...
Its the angle of picture. I checked all the legs. All is good with ue8. I have another se/30 that i just removed the ue8 and put back on as well. The picture of what its doing is posted above. Board chimes but thats it.
So found some bad vias, but still no change after bodge wires. Possible damage in inner layers? Found yet another bad via, but still no change. Checked voltages and am getting 5.03 and 12.63. High.more searching
Hmmm, never thought of app’s not triggering the fans. Both my 2.7’s and a dual 2.5 are aircooled now. Would rather have the original style lcs for all systems, but so hard to rebuild them and the cost or parts. The quad i wasnt sure of. It over heated and so i took it apart. The lcs had hardly...
