I used exactly the same components for an SSD upgrade of a 1.25Ghz iMac G4 (sunflower / iLamp) . I got stuck with white screen at boot, and after some panic, it seems I solved putting a slave/master jumper on one of the two spare pin couples besides the 2.5 IDE plug of the adapter card. Someone...
I was lucky enough to score a whole Apple II graphics tablet set (card + tablet + pen) and I already have a spare tablet alone. All manuals and docs are available online, so I really hope this will be a nice way to spend some fun time on my Apple IIe or IIeuroplus. I also have a couple of...
I tried a few of these boxes, and they did not really work for me... I will give it another try, maybe now building my own cable like @magnusfalkirk and providing audio signals to the monitor too.
@AEChadwick that's insanely great :D
Now I am curious about the next improvements!
After this, if someone definitely better than me at it would ever find a way to use a phone power bank and the other needed components to replace the internal PSU (IIc+) or internal transformer (IIc) we could...
If I should write a user's wish list, underlining the wish part :D and not knowing a thing about hardware limitations, I think it would be:
turning on/off RAM test
accessing advanced system diagnostics (checking batteries / psu too?)
getting a (customizable / nvram?) ROM disk / boot like in...
changing a jumper is what you do on other machines (Iici for instance) to switch to the romSimm, so nothing terrible. I am surely unable to do something like you are mentioning @SuperSVGA but did someone started some similar project? because I would say that would be an awesome one... :D
totally Portable-noob question, related to the memory expansion: since it takes so long to wait until the RAM test on boot is completed, would not be possible to create something like a ROMinator for the Portable? would it even make sense? I mean, there is a ROM slot, and I am aware of ROM cards...
Thanks @LaPorta , I even managed to find a reseller in Europe with direct online shops in Italy (!), Spain, France and UK so I am putting the link here for reference, as I know that it's always a bit more complicated for us this side of the pond :D...
No boot ended up in power off - but anyway I had made a "flying" connection of the battery with simple alligator clips for testing... now I made proper connection cables with faston clips and everything seems ok: it boots without power cable even with blueScsi, it gets to the desktop and the...
You are totally right, it's Ah :D
My question stands anyway: I have a new 6V 5Ah sealed lead battery now in my Portable, and it anyway doesn't seem to supply enough power for the boot, even with a blueScsi instead of the original spinner HD. I tested the Portable (with the battery in, and the...
I am reviving my Portable these days, and I am super intrigued by this thread. I guess these cards are kinda rare, aren't they? Also, what about the video-out plug on the back of the Portable? did anyone ever figure out how to use it? It seems quite strange to me that someone would build...
While we keep finger crossed for our Portable wizards @techknight and @androda developements, having a Maceffects 8mb card myself I can confirm it also works in a backlit BUT (as their website states very clearly) you need to set a jumper on the card to make it acknowledge the different model...
It seems polarity is wrong from what I could see.
I am looking for the same replacements, I have found some 7.5v / 1.5a adapters but being a total noob about electricty, I am also wondering about wattage, because I see values from 11w to 30w and I cannot make up my mind.
Same for the...
grazie!
This is great news! I had no time to investigate this further, but now that there is a hint, I hope I will find time to do something. Thanks @Paulie and... could you please post a picture of your adapter?
When I tried, I had video out to an external HDMI screen connected to the raScsi, in full colors (I think Millions of colors) - but I could not manage to have It fullscreen, It was a portion of the screen only.
