the official thread mentioned by @ymk is here: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/synchr030-s-256mb-sdram-accelerator-for-the-se-30.48307/page-3 so you may want to ask there.

should I kill a black adb mouse II ?

is this so to say, or are you recommending some laser tool to cut the plastic away? In this case, can you be more specific or even share a link to such tools? thanks @LaPorta

should I kill a black adb mouse II ?

I managed to glue it back but it (barely) works with vertical movements, while horizontal (especially to the right) is really not there. I will maybe give it another shot, and if I will not make it... then snipping and converting to optical.

should I kill a black adb mouse II ?

Hello everybody. I managed to find the black adb mouse II I was looking for... but it is the model with the ball housing directly mold into the bottom case, and since I am very lucky... most of the plastic housing is broken. I tried to fix it with superglue, hot glue, whatever, but for one clip...

    Fast! CompactFlash for Macintosh PDS/NuBus

I am wondering if this would fit (and work) in the top slot of a riser like @Bolle ’s Ethernet + Carrera slot inside my SE/30

powerbook g4 12" keeps hanging and asking for reboot

yes the fan turned on sometimes during the OSX install process - and without the RAM module everything is the same. I had found that thread before, it seems to confirm that heath issues are common, but I am afraid that, having that kernel panic screen when I turn it on now, it could more likely...

powerbook g4 12" keeps hanging and asking for reboot

Now to the heatsink: it seems ok to me, but the pad on the gpu seems a bit ruined. Also the thermal paste on the cpu seems quite dry… Could this alone cause the reboot request issue? I wonder if the blue goo from the thermal pad on the gpu chips could cause some shorting too. Better give it a...

powerbook g4 12" keeps hanging and asking for reboot

Someone was definitely in there before… no tape left and one cable (speaker?) disconnetted and stored below the hd strip cable. Is this meant to plug in that 2pin plug? I don’t seem to find any other plug that could fit… but how is the correct routing of that cable now?

powerbook g4 12" keeps hanging and asking for reboot

Today I am planning to check the heatsink. @herd you were mentioning broken solder joints, I see in the repair manual that the heatsink is simply connected to the logic with screws... so which solder joints were you thinking about? I guess thermal paste will be needed - and I see around that...

powerbook g4 12" keeps hanging and asking for reboot

Thanks for all the hints, @jovianartifact no extra device attached unfortunately.... @joevt @herd I will check everything (including model: it's a 1,5Ghz but there were a few different revisions IIRC) and let you know.

powerbook g4 12" keeps hanging and asking for reboot

Hello everybody, I am restoring a powerbook g4 12" - I increased memory and replaced the hd with a ssd, but when I try to install OSX (either 4 or 5) it asks for restart, or installs the first OSX 4 and then when rebooting, again it will ask for restart. What could it be? what would you look...

    Carrera040 & RominatorII on SE/30 compatibility issues

Hi, in my case I was sure the Carrera was working before, so I was able to rule this option out from the beginning. I know it sounds silly but... did you try with a totally fresh install of 7.1 as I wrote, literally zapping the disk and starting from srcratch?

IDK if this older thread about me dealing with a similar issue may help you somehow: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/carrera-se30-control-and-bolle-carrera040-in-the-mac-se-30.46741/

    OrangePC 290

@evanboonie glad I could be useful. Thanks for your offer, being on the other side of the pond :D I'd rather find someone closer; I have a very skilled repairer I use sometimes, and he did repair traces for me on some logic boards already... so I guess he's the man, I just need to find time...

    OrangePC 290

Yes, it's that card, I got it in January for 450 bucks, which is not the crazy amount of money you said they were asking, but still a lot of money considering the condition it is in. That's how you learn lessons about buying vintage stuff online...

    OrangePC 290

@evanboonie I got my PCMCIA model out and took some photos, it seems it also has cache installed already, if I understand your cache mod correctly; the jumpers are set to host a 486 DX2-50 which is the processor I got with the card. The chip at U94 (with a dissipator below it that I removed to...

    x86 card revival thread

thanks @evanboonie for all your work. The cache mod looks really promising and interesting, and the component list you shared is less than 20€ from digikey, so definitely worth a shot. I am totally scared by the soldering work, so I should probably ask for some help by some skilled friend, but I...

TashTwenty: Single-Chip DCD (Hard Disk 20) Interface

@warmech is the TashTwenty Mega gone further? I have a stack of external SCSI HDs (apple, rodime etc) which would love to get one... or should I put some other kind of card in there and fix them that way? I loved your design the most...
