Nod- more or less what I already knew- working on a pinout to get the vga header functional. also, the case parts are late 2005 g5 case parts.. interesting as the system came out in early/mid 2005... i guess in a sense, it qualifies as a "prototype" of the late 2005 g5 case as well :) ...

can any nubus experts identify this? the board styling and tagging looks somewhat apple, the fact we've got prototype names on some of the chips is interesting.. sadly it seems the label on the eprom is removed, so no idea what that said... it's a strange board...

while rebuilding is an option, it's not the best case scenario in terms of 'archiving". In the end, when i can't find a solution, i usually put it on my watched lists and buy a copy when it rolls around. at some point, I do hope the vintage macintosh software "archiving" efforts actually...

shrinkwrap produces a bad image- i've tested it, as well as doing a 4.2 image via osx

Any chance SOMEONE out there happens to have an original FLOPPY set that they can get a proper disk copy 4.2 image off this disk? I'm working on an in-depth archival project, and my original of the second disk fails about 963k in- I'd like to rewrite a proper image to it while I'm at it. NOTE...

that is one of the most unfair comparisons ever... "snappier..." let's see.. you have a VERY modern, fast, high cache 1TB 3.5" drive in the G5... 16GB ram... and you're comparing it to a 120gb laptop drive in a 2gb ram equipped system... that mini will school the g5 in calculations hands...

I'm trying to do some detailed benchmarks comparing slots and controller options on pci macs, and am looking for a copy of the MacBench 5 cdrom (or image)... any leads on this.. the basic app, while nice, isn't comprehensive enough without the cd-rom to make accurate comparisons... thanks

I did a little testing this morning and 9.2.2 seems stable on the 9600 + 1ghz, but 8.x and before (even the stock 9600 install from the cd, seem really flaky.. maybe apple changed something in the 9.x era for supporting real g4's that might help.. i know their target audience was os9 and...

turns out the issue was apparently related to the fact that this drive was partitioned while i was on the 9600s that were having issues... apparently regardless of drive ERASES, the issue wouldn't disappear, but repartitioning it worked fine... wacky, and it's all stable now!

oh! you don't NEED it- they just use it as their "failsafe" against dumb customers.... just boot in extensions off then run the installer you can reboot normally when done... I've been doing some research and while sonnet qualifies the card as 7.5 compatibile.. I have a feeling 7.x support...
