Unfortunately I think that is the one variant Androda doesn't make. Might be worth reaching out and seeing if he would be willing to add it to his flex cable recreations. https://androda.work/product-category/macportable/
I had a few extra coiled ADB cables. I cut off one connector, figured out which wire went to which pin, and connected them to a connector. I think I discussed it in this thread, but the 1st connector is 2.0mm pitch, not 2.54. But that allowed me to swap cables and made it easier to paint the...
Good timing on this post!
It gave me the motivation to fix the sound on an SE/30 I picked up recently. My symptoms were no sound through speaker or headphone jack, but also the machine would partially hang when trying to play certain sounds in the control panel. I forget which sounds, but I...
Here's the 5 I made (5 PCB minimum order, why not spend a ton on key switches, and key caps?!?). 4 of the 5 are functional, and the 5th is waiting to find another ADK that has the ALPS controller in it. I really like the black case, with dark keycaps from keychain...
I believe no PRAM battery is better than a dead PRAM. I don't believe the 5500 requires a PRAM battery to boot (at least mine doesn't). However, the symptoms feel like a dying power supply. Sending wrong/fluctuating voltages to the analog board might explain the enlarging of the image during...
True, but the coin cells go dead pretty quickly, and the Mac II seems to be pretty sensitive to power. I also don't want to have to remove the floppy / HD tray to access it when they need changed. I have a non-working Mac II that I did replace with AAA battery holders and I attached them via...
Awesome information. I saw it was an Apple part, but apparently not too many people opted to install it based on online image searches. I'll likely remove it and replace it with a battery holder and wires to get the batteries away from the logic board.
I picked up a Mac II recently and was looking to do a recap. However, the board markings show a number different than what I can find reference to online.
It seems to be very similar to pictures I've found of the 820-0163-02 board in terms of capacitor location. One difference I did...
Yeah, I had a dead Cube PSU and I replaced it with an older 27v mean well PSU. I did have to 3d print a piece to extend the length of the case. However, I think newer PSUs may be able small enough to fully fit into the original case. Definitely something to keep in mind if the recap goes poorly.
I'd throw some batteries in there. Most likely either the base is bad and not supplying power to the unit, or the DC adapter is bad, given that neither work. I have a PowerCD that is broken on the bottom. Any chance you'd be willing to sell one of your units?
Nice. Yeah I'm hoping I can find one (or two) with a good analog board / PSU since I have two known good logic boards. IF the damage has been limited to that, I should be able to get a working one.
Unfortunately, I don't get fan or LED. The logic board seems fine - I threw it in my G3 desktop and it booted fine. I may be traveling to PA next week and there is a guy selling a bunch of them and I may pick one up while I'm there. and see if I can make one good machine.
Yeah, no chime, no lights, nothing. Now that I say it out loud, it feels like a power supply issue. I had fully disassembled it for a thorough cleaning (it was a barn find and was filthy inside). I had checked all the connections multiple times, and it all seems to be connected properly. Is...
@demik , Can you provide details in the GitHub repo on the connections for the ADB wires. The wires labeled are GVAPE. In one of your pictures, it's not quite clear which color wire from and ADB cable goes where, but it appears maybe
G -green
V - red
A - blue
P - white
E - black
Is that...
For mine, replacing UE8 fixed the jail bar patterns. Upon closer inspection of my board, I noticed corrosion on some of the pins for UE8, and as I was doing some aggressive cleaning, the pins broke off. I used this as a replacement...
Sadly no. No disks and the hard drive was not working when I got tue machine. Had to do fresh install of 6.0.8 and use the Micromac drivers to get it to work.
