Yep, amazing stuff goin' on in this new age of development for Paleolithic Macs. 😁
Your fourth card is a Carrera, accelerators don't require an interrupt, cards interrupt them! Loading on the PDS for the three available interrupt lines/expansion cards and capacitance of the stack would be the...
Yep, never said id doesn't work. But three cards on the PDS is running it on the ragged edge electrically.

Coupled with a SCSI/SD you'd never need to remove the CF card, no? I'll be quiet now. ;)
edit: nice comeback! Didn't know. Again, thinking about limiting the PDS to only two cards, which relates to the "million dollar question" upthread.
Mentioned CF->SD adapter upthread. @zigzagjoe said there were requirements that need to be met for adapter to work.

Micro SD slot on the backplane?
edit: throw socketed CF adapter onto a reloaded logic board with new build PDS card stack into a clear case? 😁
All brand new (aside from...
Socketed SE/30 version would be outstanding. That'd leave the full length/cubic of the expansion card chimney open and view less blocked in a clear case as well as reduction of loading on the PDS for a "three" card stack.
edit: Socketed version would make for @Bolle NIC/Accelerator Adapter and...
Not sure if the 100 has termination power for that? But if so, no cable required. T or L shaped adapter will work great.
Any of the whatever->SCI setups can be powered via USB port no?
If you have a desktop SCSI equipped Mac or PowerBook with adequate storage to spare, a SCSI Disk Mode Cable (or PB adapter with Disk Mode switch setup) will allow you to copy the PB100 disk's contents over to the host Mac's HDD in one fell swoop. ;)
I'm right there with you on this, snagged my...
Interesting! @zigzagjoe With the flyback out of the way you can really clean up the cooling setup.
- Apple used that Neolithic metal box thing to replace the elegant, higher efficiency bypass fan setup of the SE
- print a longer, smooth, circular to square transition duct to replace that...
Now that I'm waking up, I see a possible problem. Luggable and PB100 use PSRAM with the direct addressing setup of SRAM. But the Compact Mac uses DRAM in Banks with CAS/RAS complications.
Plus/SE/Classic may only have a single bank(?) but its setup is very different from PB100/Luggable, no...
It's 8MB as was mine in the day as soon as I could get an order off to APS for that card, their faster Modem, and a 230MB HDD for BabyPB.
Since I've learned of the Portable's 9MB capability, I've been very curious about the RAM based Video Out card for the PB100. I wonder if Sony reserved the...
Love it, especially the three part modular approach! Opens up some possibilities there.
The HDD module can be customized for my cooling system. Height/thickness can be optimized for stacking blower and a 2.5" HDD on top. Setting the chassis vertically into the case allows for foam...
Thanks, unfortunate that. Can an analog video output bodge work, given that limitation in RBV?
How about digging up and posting that pretty IIsi/Compact ratsnest as inspiration for the dreamers? ;)
Yep, noted. That was a reply to @Arbee about PPC. Said such was way off topic and in need of a dedicated thread. ;)
Re-read that portion of the thread earlier (after edit timeout) and saw you're taking non-hotplug hardware case into account. ROM/Driver playtime is out of my wheelhouse/way over...
Might you be wreaking havoc upon the IIsi's Vampire Video buffering that is set up at boot time?
- sense lines detected at startup = 1MB of system memory buffered for use as VRAM.
- no monitor connected = no buffering of first Meg.
- hotplug monitor/sense lines after boot = all kinds of havoc...
Dunno, PPC is way off topic, characteristically insane and in need of a dedicated thread here, but makes more sense to me to start out with a PPC board.
Q630 form factor PPC boards fit for transplant as is. Though well beyond current capabilities. A second gen reloaded PPC board (with cache)...
🤣 FINALLY! @Bolle when did you do that IIsi in SE/30 form factor rats nest? Looked, but can't find that layout from years back. Apparently I'd put a bug in your ear in a thread about this very thing. You PM'd me with the diagram saying you'd been dragged into it. Still got that beauty squirreled...
Yep, LEM Fables are definitely a thing to be aware of, but it's a very good site and even great sites like everymac miss the boat on some issues as well.
The one thing I cannot forgive is LEM's incessant comparison of high end "Accelerated NuBus VidCards" as being "slower" than "Onboard Video."...
Indeed, but how much did they know about Fast/Narrow signal integrity requirements? Might want to include a caveat precluding use of or maximum cable length specification recommendation for the adventurous? DB25/Centronics50 cables in the field are not likely to be reliable I'd think? But as you...
Using the likes of an external BlueSCSI mounted directly on a DB-25 connector might work well enough despite the lack of alternating ground lines over that short a run? Dunno, just tossing a couple of cents onto the waters of development.
