A few SE/30 Reloaded Build Questions

+1 on the socket. Gives you options to add a socketed booster/accelerator later and save your PDS slot / space for other things.

Yup, I did. I'm aware the silkscreen is wrong.

Tried a filament print again for the ADB port cover on the 3400c. Came out ok on this attempt. The color match is better than what is shown in the last two pictures below but will need to attempt a better match in the future.

It was the same process as the 500 series keyboard lubrication I mentioned here: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/powerbook-500-series-keyboard.47776/

    PowerBook 500 Series Keyboard

Follow up a year later. The lubrication lasts and keys still feel good.

PowerBook 3400c is almost done. Again, took 3 of them to piece together one fully working and loaded one. The end result is a 240MHz model with full memory (144MB), internal Zip drive, working Lithium battery, new PRAM battery. It has a Samsung screen (also have a working Sharp as well as...

I've got a working Performa 460 board (which I believe is the same as the LCIII+ board). I'll think about it. :)

LC III is fixed and working. Missed two broken data lines going to the CPU from the memory. That got the OS to boot. Then found another broken trace for a dram address line that prevented the memory socket from working. Then found a fourth broken trace preventing the VRAM slot from working...

My guess is it's still the bodged memory. Will need to recheck that again.

Back to the LC III. Last we left off I had been removing the rust on the power supply, inner shields, etc.. the PSU has been recapped and it's working. Tested it on another board. Went from this: to this and functional: As for the logic board, went from this: to this: Could not...

I do have a router, but I had one shot and didn't want to mess it up so didn't use it. I ended up hand carving it using an x-acto blade. And then sanding it down using a file set.

Recently got an SE/30 case (no logic board) as part of a trade. With folks jumping on clear cases, I decided to go with a stormtrooper look instead and spent time restoring the case (cracks, etc) and then refinishing it in matte white. I then moved my SE/30 guts into this new case (still have...

IIsi power supply won't turn off, I'm deep in schematic land

@dougg3 when you said you took every component off, cleaned the board, and put them back on, was that the daughtercard only or also the main board? I don’t have a IIsi anymore but two of them I worked on had the same problem you are describing and both went away when I let the main PSU board...

    Oh No! More Macs

This is so awesome! Each of those pictures gives the compacts personality. I like the one with the SE/30 in the reflection. It's like it's looking out the window and enjoying the ride. :)

Hmm, ok. Well, it looks like I have two working batteries then. Cool. The hinge mounts worked and I have the laptop basically back together. Just waiting for a new PRAM battery to arrive and then I can put the remaining parts back together.

It's booting off the battery now. So I don't understand something about the contacts here.. what I'm seeing is different from what I believe I saw with the 5300 batteries. Maybe I'm just not remembering correctly. I was also seeing some jittering on the display whenever I tapped the ribbon...
