    Sad/Death Chime on IIci

@pinto_guy your white residue is just the flux reacting with you having put it in the dishwasher. Generally it's fine to leave it but YMMV. There is a test mode that can be enabled via those burn-in pads on the top left of your pic - details here...

68020 SBC on VME Can't use the .ini file

The 53C80 datasheet is of no use here - countless things use that, in many different implementations, some of them compatible with cheap SCSI disk emulators, some not. Anyway, as @Phipli said, if this is a mission-critical device, i.e. something still used in a medical setting, hobby use SDEs...

G4 Cube Internal Speaker Functionality Dilema

Anyway, I'm sure we'll find out the issue is: the audio hardware is left dangling there, curiously stuffed on every production board, without having a suitable entry in the device tree to pipe it into the system so that it can be seen as an audio device by either ROM or OS. I won't be close to...

68020 SBC on VME Can't use the .ini file

The OMTI 5200 is a bridgeboard, from SCSI to ST506, plus floppy. So that checks out. If that SCSI HBA is custom and specific to this machine you're probably SOL on documentation, and also probably on getting anything much different from the factory-shipped disk to work with it. Will wait for pics :)

68020 SBC on VME Can't use the .ini file

The MVME133XT does not have a SCSI controller. I'm not sure this thread is in the right place, or even in the right forum, but to be any help we'd need to know what other cards are installed in the card cage. Your OMTI card is probably both SCSI and floppy controller, and any further interesting...

G4 Cube Internal Speaker Functionality Dilema

I probably got the suffixes mixed up - 1258 is all one family. There's no datasheet because it's an ASIC designed by Apple - we'd need a document called Paddington ERS or KeyLargo ERS (1258AK is probably KeyLargo? Memory spotty there) to know more about how that works. In any case, AFAIK that...

scsiNonZeroStatus Quantum 80S scsi adaptec 2930cu

No - the SE/30 should chime, and go to the question mark blinking floppy to inform you it's found no boot media and prompt for one.

scsiNonZeroStatus Quantum 80S scsi adaptec 2930cu

Do you have any PCs? I've had SCSI drives go corrupt that were recoverable with a controller format by using an Adaptec HBA's built-in BIOS utilities, something that AFAIK isn't possible on any other platform, Mac or otherwise. IIRC those Quantum drives do not respond to the controller at all if...

Sketchy aftermarket battery rebuild with cells salvaged from a Chromebook pack that was below 2V/cell. Kinda IED-like but ok. Also wildly optimistic duration estimates in the beginning of the first cycle, lol.

G4 Cube Internal Speaker Functionality Dilema

Hrm. The Cube is theoretically based on the Sawtooth architecture, which uses Screamer (Crystal) audio. The DAC will have been wired to Paddington's (Lucent 1258U) I2S lines - pins 16 and 15 on the 3550. If the machine is telling it to do anything, it'll be on there. However, looking at earlier...

@3lectr1cPPC I ended up just putting a like-for-like panel in because I couldn't justify what people are asking for unblemished WUXGA ones on this machine - it's creased, dented, bent, scuffed and overall terrible, so it gets a $20 replacement. I am honestly still afraid of the tweaked bezel/lid...

IIRC 8100 mentions some different resistors on the CPU power supply rail between 110 and 80/100. 630 DOS is just a 580

    Free PowerBook 1400c 166MHz upgrade...

Interested in good images of the boards when you get them out, @Snial - even though they have separate assembly numbers (820-xxxx), I'm not aware of a single case where Apple used different PCBs for versions of machines. See, for instance, G5s not upgrading regardless of which CPU module you...

What model Flyback Transformer is in the iMac G3 600 (Summer 2001)

FWIW the flybacks in the Brazilian link are out of stock, anyway. Has anyone tried to get in touch directly with HR Diemen in Spain?

My Battery Bombed IIci needs some new parts

D7 and D8 are both 1N914, but almost anything will do - you need to replace D7, else the RTC will drain the battery even while the machine is on. It's interesting you get anything on the video. But yes, you absolutely need Y6 in place - MDU (the main controller chip) is clocked off that, and...

    Recovering a bad floppy disk?

No, because IWM/SWIM decodes read data inside of itself before presenting it to the system. Greaseweazle (and similar solutions) can dump a disk as raw magnetic flux.
