Why not use a 4MB 72-pin SIMM? The socket is still available on DigiKey.

What's the maximum amount of memory the Mercury 030 can address? How would you integrate the RAM expansion logic into the Performer? At a glance, the Mercury 030 GAL U3 seems slightly different than the Performer's GAL U3.

I installed a fan in the Plus for good measure... https://archive.org/details/mac_Macintosh_Repair_Upgrade_Secrets_1990/page/n155/mode/2up

Is this too much $ and work for a noob.

I fondled the keyboard of a Macintosh 128k in a museum and to me it looks and feels slightly better than the Plus keyboard It's not convenient to be swapping floppies every time you want to load up a program, just get a SCSI disk emulator. BlueSCSI seems to be the cheapest at this moment, works...

Is this too much $ and work for a noob.

Right now on eBay there's a parts/repair mouse for $23 and a few others for $40-50. I think my price is fair

It did work last time I tested it but I can test again with my Plus

Just remove the back case and front bezel and scrub with soap and water... If it chimes that's good. If the screen stays black or flickers that's because of a cracked solder joint on the analog board. https://archive.org/details/mac_The_Dead_Mac_Scrolls_1992/page/42/mode/2up Those mains cords...

@Cory5412 On the suggestion of others, please rename this thread to "Honey, I shrunk the MicroMac Performer" to make it more easily findable in searches. Thanks. I did ding up my first assembled Polyphloisboisterous '030 by trying to desolder the headers so I decided to build another one. The...

    Help with my Mac LC

I don't think the internal Quantum HDDs can spin down... But if it's a Quantum it's certainly got stuck heads due to melted rubber bumpers inside. Turns to goo after a long time :(

LOL! I soldered the wrong side of the headers to the card.

I think that the round machined pin headers are too large in diameter. I'll try to desolder them and replace them with buss wires.

My GALs are also 15ns. I just tested the upgrade card in my Macintosh Plus and it does work. The only problem is that it's very hard to mount on top of the 68000, I can't even push it in all the way. There's a lot of resistance. I soldered a machined pin socket on top of the 68000, and machined...

    Baby's first PCB

Yes. I fixed the Afterburner, it was a problem with the on/off switch. I bought the wrong type of switch from DigiKey so I substituted another harvested from an old fax modem but it didn't function exactly as expected. The switch was connecting VPP to the wrong pad so I soldered a bodge wire and...

    Baby's first PCB

Upgrade almost fully assembled... I didn't buy a PGA-128 socket for the 68030, instead I used several machined pin headers. Just waiting on GALs because I also built a GAL programmer for Arduino, but it doesn't identify any GALs inserted and I don't know why.

Tokamac Nubus card? Need help identifying

PAL is a programmable logic chip, if someone got a hold of this particular Donoho PAL they could read out or reverse engineer the logic it was programmed with and write that to new PALs or GALs. But I guess the person who owns this special IIfx logic board is a total douchecanoe for not donating...
