Probably a long shot but anyone have a Umax SuperMac c600 (any config) they might want to part with? I have a 1MB inline cache board that wants to be reunited with one! (tested good in my c500, but can't leave it in there for mechanical reasons)
Awesome! I certainly understand it may take some time.
I also run my MacIPRpi 24/7 (Raspberry Pi 4 2MB w64GB SD card) and primarily use it for a bunch of things:
Retro computing file server ("bridge server" instead of "bridge machine" awesome client compatibility!)
Print server for my...
I was able to test an ATI Rage 128 PCI card in my 4400, with nothing connected to the on-board video, and my NEC MultiSync LCD1550V connected directly to the Rage card, it all worked fine. This is under Mac OS 8.6 but I don't think that matters much, I think the 4400 is able to tell nothing is...
@mactjaap Any chance you might be working on a new MacIPRpi release? I use the heck out of my little RPi 4 MacIPRpi 5.02 but would love to pick up the latest Netatalk updates, not sure I'd be able to pull off the upgrade on my own (in addition to a Raspbian upgrade I should likely do).
The response seems reasonable to me. It seems unreasonable to feel entitled to the product of someone else's work as well as to question their completely reasonable approach to something akin to computing history preservation and restoration in producing a high quality version of these Bezels.
These Mini DIN 5 connectors do fit the in the PK Pro 200 quite nicely! Soldering seems no worse than the tiny stuff we do on logic boards, no? I guess I’ll let you know!
I would like to have a fully capable cable. I guess the benefit for using it with a machine that already supports soft power...
I'm coming back to looking at recreating a new "cable" so I can use my PowerKey Pro 200, current plan:
I have some Mini DIN-5 male connectors I got from eBay (#3) and some small project electronic project boxes from Amazon. I'm thinking of buying this S-Video splitter cable from Amazon to...
Back to your adapters have you tried other resolutions that you would expect/know your LC monitors to support? I would think that they should support Mac 640x480 67Hz but maybe they only do VGA modes?
I use a 15" NEC MultiSync LCD1550V, normally with a Griffin Mac PnP adapter set to MultiSync...
This is a good point. If it's just a video adapter problem the system should boot. You'd hear the HD makiigf noise for a few minutes and then quiet down. If you stick a bootable floppy in the drive same, any other floppy it would eject it. Those behaviors would point to the video...
I just pulled my 4400 out and removed all the DIMMs. I can confirm I do get a normal startup sound, same as you, but nothing further (as one would expect). Apparently the chime isn't part of the memory test.
FWIW prior to testing that I put a clock battery in and started it up as a base line...
What type of "new stick" and in which slot? i.e. are you sure it is compatible with the special/strict requirements of the 4400?
3.3-volt, 64-bit-wide, 2k refresh, 168-pin unbuffered extended data out (EDO) JDEC-standard DIMMs with an access time of 60ns or faster. It also only supports some...
Definitely look at your RAM. In testing an extra DIMM I sold to another member here I ran into this:
“Tested the DIMM out this evening to make sure it still worked and I was wrong about it working in the Dual banked slots it actually only works in the Single banked slot where it works as 32MB...
The Power Macintosh 6500/250 I picked up a while back on eBay seemed to work okay except it made a horribly loud grinding noise. I was sure it must be a bad power supply fan. But when I tried the logic board in a different 6400 chassis the sound went with the logic board, it seemed crazy but the...
For Mac Bench 4.0 I played with the QuadControl control panel "Quadra Boost" ROM in RAM setting, its seems the "MAX" setting (MQB below) provided some increased benefit with the FastCache Quadra over the default "Good" setting (GQB below) but not so much without the card installed.
