Duo Dock Strange Boot Icon (Picture)

Perhaps the difference has to do with there being two SCSI controllers when docked. The one on the Duo logic board apparently is only used for its internal hard disk, the Duo Dock has a separate "external" SCSI controller. When docked it seems there is more going on in the ROM routines...

Powerbook Duo 280c + Accessories Maintenance

Hmm, could that icon be representing the Duo Dock floppy disk drive? I don't recall when machine specific floppy disk drive icons are used but I know they exist and are particularly interesting for Macs that support multiple floppy drives. Sorry if you already stated, but if you don't have a...

Laserwriter 4/600 PS with streaks all over printed page.

Apple apparently used Adobe tech to be able ship it with only 2MB of RAM, I guess HP didn't like this approach for their competing product. Apple cost savings, to get them the profit margin they wanted? From the Apple LaserWriter 4/600 PS Developer note: The LaserWriter 4/600 PS printer has...

I much prefer System 7.1 on an SE/30 to 7.5 (and up), it just feels more responsive. You can disable a lot of the extensions and control panels in 7.5 that I think lead to some of this but at that point why not just run System 7.1? I do add BeHierarchic and SuperClock! as having a hierarchical...

I bought that one! I haven't tried to rebuild a Duo battery yet but thought it might be useful if it I did. Its also a nice paper weight ;-) Here's a quick flat bed scan with a ruler in case that's helpful:

    Netatalk 4.0 - Future-proofing Apple File Sharing

I'm still using a couple of the last Airport Extreme APs (2013, 6th generation, 802.11ac) for my home network, they pass AppleTalk just fine, WiFi to/from Ethernet as well as Ethernet off the main unit to Ethernet of the 2nd unit. I even have an older 3rd gen that I sometimes bring up to bridge...

    Interware Booster 30-SE50F Info Dump

Thanks for the doc, super interesting. It looks like Apple is saying the "real & supported " PDS 68030 Direct Slot expansion interface for the IIsi, as documented in the IIsi Dev note, is the one on their official PDS "Direct Slot adapter card", they are basically saying the logic board...

    Interware Booster 30-SE50F Info Dump

I thought there might be something like this! Wonderful indeed... Curious, perhaps dumb question, what is this "DC&D" doc? I think I will try your suggestion of removing the B2 pin from your IIsi Booster and testing again with the 3 Cache cards I have. I have to admit it's giving me an icky...

    MacIPRpi beta release 6.02

Thanks! I had used the GUI to try to change the name: Pi menu -> Preferences -> Raspberry Pi Configuration - Change Hostname But looks like that only changes the 3rd one you list "/etc/hostname" Changed the other two and things look better!

Will likely have to ask for for more detail on how to use that dbd utility when the time comes. ...yeah, wanting to print to an old LaserWriter is definitely not about modern practicality/utility, much like most of this site! I bought my 4/600 when I went to university in 1996, nostalgia is a...

While the old pages are neat, I found it more useful to replace them with some links to services on the MacIPRpi and some links to retro sites: <HEADER> <TITLE>MacIPRpi</TITLE> </HEADER> <BODY> <H1>MacIPRpi</H1> <p> <b>Local:</b> <blockquote> <A...

    MacIPRpi beta release 6.02

Thinking about the change away from "AppleDouble", this means I could not just rsync the contents from my old MacIPRpi v5.02, running netatalk 2.x, to a new one with v6.02, running netatalk 4.x, correct? The HFS resource forks are encoded in a different, incompatible way? Would he best thing...

Oh jeez! this of course got me thinking when CUPS 2.0 may no longer be supported. Found this: https://github.com/OpenPrinting/cups/issues/400 "That said, given the history of CUPS packaging on enterprise-oriented Linux distributions, I suspect you will still see CUPS 2.x in use until at least...

    MacIPRpi beta release 6.02

There are two use cases here: 1) Using the Rpi to enable an old Mac to print to a modern printer Old Mac-> AppleTalk pap print job -> Rpi server -> IP CUPS print job > Modern printer 2) Using the Rpi to enable a modern computer to print to an old AppleTalk only printer Modern computer -> IP...
