    IIci boots twice

Try moving the system to another .hda. Try disabling the other hda’s. Have reset PRAM?

    IIci boots twice

I've noticed it more with an OG hard drive that's partitioned and has multiple System Folders across the partitions. On 68k, Startup Disk Control Panel can't distinguish between different partitions on the same SCSI ID, which causes issues. In this scenario I use System Picker, but still run...

    IIci boots twice

I sometimes see the same thing when I have multiple partitions set up on a drive. I find it annoying too.

Quadra 605/LC475: "EViL RAS LINE HACK" revisited . . .

Scanning through, it seems this started as quite a heated thread.

    68040 mhz

Thank you for your in-depth exploration of the topic. I’ve learned something today. Could the ‘040 then be alternatively thought of as an ‘030 DX2 (to use Intel’s marketing paradigm)? One other thing, isn’t the 486 DX4 actually running at 3x the bus speed, rather than 4x? Another trick of...

False? I can’t see where in the article it says that. The article just talks about Motorola’s marketing scam, advertising speeds with PCLK rather than BCLK. Many of us do run 040 chips up to and in excess of 50MHz - for example I am runnng my LC475 at 50MHz.

    Carrera040 & RominatorII on SE/30 compatibility issues

Just noticed I hadn’t updated everyone on the thread with my findings. I confirmed that the Carrera040 fails to work correctly with my custom made Rominator II (based on the EconoSimm), but works fine with an original BMOW Rominator II. I haven’t looked into whether it’s an electrical issue or...

    New Project: Prodigy 040/060 Card

It looks really nice. How much work to the ROM will be needed to get it working with an 040? I am guessing as well that we could push an 040 chip to the absolute limit (likely 55-57MHz for 02E31F mask and later) without the usual logic board chipset contraints.

Overclock LC475/P475/Q605 without soldering or spicy-o-clock

I tried my original LC475 board again. I had previously reported this: It would hard lock immediately every time 50MHz was selected. With a fan pointed at the CPU, it now works and runs without issue. So it seems that both my boards will do 50MHz.

Overclock LC475/P475/Q605 without soldering or spicy-o-clock

This has helped. With a fan pointed at the heatsink, the CPU stays cool and runs stable @50MHz. Once I take the fan away, the heatsink gets hotter and hotter - and then the artifacts begin.

Radius Precision Color 8X-J 7 inch ROM Image

It sounds like they flashed it over the image on their original chip, which of course won’t work if it’s one time programmable, and probably destroyed it.

Overclock LC475/P475/Q605 without soldering or spicy-o-clock

Continuing my experiments with Soft475, I installed an 88916 onto my other LC475 logic board, intentionally picking one with a different/newer date code. Despite using the same L88M CPU as before, the results are a bit better: I can actually set 50MHz and it works. However, it is unstable. It...

I would expect a late mask 040 to do 50mhz with ease but make sure you stick a good heatsink on it.

Overclock LC475/P475/Q605 without soldering or spicy-o-clock

This seems like a good idea. Just be aware that the Gestalt ID will change and some software will not recognise it as an LC475 - but you can install ‘wish I were’ to get around that.
