If it's simply networking, you can run a traceroute to see where the slowdown is. It could be as boring as a bad route at your provider.

My conquests are so few a far these days but I fell into a Grape iMac with keyboard. Looks like I need the grape puck and the IO door, though. Don't even know if it works yet. Also picked up a VST SuperDisk drive and a DVD-ROM for PowerBook G3 for $3 each.

I've had LCDs that still exhibited the contrast issue even after recapping so I think there is more to it than the capacitors.

You run into issue when one of those layers is the ground layer. I've adopted a hold-then-rotate method when dealing with those. That and using a good amount of fresh solder to tin the desoldering gun.

Seems to me that a 68k would be dead slow in processing anything modern. I don't even want to think of SSL encrypted connections.
