Help me ID a SuperMac card

Hehe I'm very hard to offend :D I'm not sure if stiction is what I'm dealing with here. The drive doesn't spin up at all. Not a sound out of it. I found this page which offers a few possible fixes. Banging, twisting and hairdryer-ing are the ones I can at least attempt here. I don't think...

Help me ID a SuperMac card

Hmm sounds interesting alright. So you reckon that EEPROM isn't part of the card's stock config? That would lean towards some hardware hacking going on. I checked out macmetex's site but he doesn't have any terminators right now. I googled the part numbers so I'll put them here for future...

Help me ID a SuperMac card

I tried it headless as these are the only nubus cards I have. I couldn't power it off with the power button+enter. I don't know what effect the hard drive is having on the SCSI bus when it's not powering up. The IIfx has special terminators for the internal and external buses and I have...

Help me ID a SuperMac card

Yeah I was wondering about that second card. So you reckon it's damaged goods then? The guy I got it off said the Mac was working when it was put into storage years ago. What do you mean "lets hope it wasn't removed and reinstalled"? From all my fooling around testing so far it seems to make...

Help me ID a SuperMac card

Will do. But without a booting IIfx I can't try that just yet. And it's the only nubus Mac I have.

Help me ID a SuperMac card

Here's a few pics. I don't think I need a driver to get the system to boot now. Think I just messed something up. But I'd still like to find out what these cards are and what they can do. The pics are kinda big so I won't embed them. The first card (beside the PSU) has what looks like a...

    IIfx Won't boot

Unfortunately no. I'm not really equipped for this level of troubleshooting. I'm still at the swap-with-a-known-good-part stage. I've stripped it down a bit now. Disconnected everything from the logic board except for the PSU connector as that's very tight. At a minimum, what should I need...

    IIfx Won't boot

Still no progress. I can't get it to boot beyond these grey screens. I've tried the internal disk from my 7500 and an external SCSI (as apparently you don't need the black terminator for newer drives). The first time I powered it on after putting in the batteries it got to the "missing system"...

    IIfx Won't boot

Instead of starting a new thread I'll tack onto this one. I'm trying to get my "new" IIfx working here. Initially it didn't power on. I added in two batteries and that got it to boot, but the hard drive didn't spin up. I tried to boot from a floppy and it started to load, a SuperMac logo...

Help me ID a SuperMac card

I just got my hands on a IIfx :) I bought it blind and when it arrived it wouldn't power up. Opened it up and both battery holders were empty. Filled them up and now it's booting, but I'm not hearing anything out of the hard disk. So until I can take a closer look at that, I'm trying to boot...

    Powerbook 540 bundled software?

No the Legacy CD pretty much only has the OS. I'm guessing that the PB540 may have come with a CD that was used to restore the system. That or a larger set of floppies. I don't know what the original PB540 box would have included. Someone here might be able to answer that.

    Powerbook 540 bundled software?

There were two configurations for the 540 depending on whether it had the Global Village modem or not. As well as the Macintosh Basics folder there was an Applications folder with: ARA Client 2.0.1 Calendar 1.5 eWorld 1.0 File Assistant 1.0 HyperCard Player 2.2 MacCheck 1.0.5 MacLinkPlus...

    Mac II, Performa 6400/200

Depends on the cache enabling software you use. I had my G3 card running fine in 7.5.3 with XLR8 MACh Speed Control.

    Thinking about getting a IIcx

I'll put up an official WTB post soon and see what gets offered. I don't think I'd see much of the benefits the 8*24GC has over the 8*24 in what I plan to run/use on the IIcx so I guess either card would be welcome. I'm hoping to get everything together so I only have to pay shipping once.

Loband: web fat trimmer for limited clients.

Well, I'm not that much of a young'un but even when I did start on the net pages looked better than that. Some kind of formatting would help. And maybe some horizontal rules and bullet gifs...

    Thinking about getting a IIcx

Going back to the 8*24GC, why does LEM say the IIcx can't run it in 24-bit colour? With no 24-bit colour in System 6 and no acceleration in A/UX is it really a good idea to get one? Would a regular 8*24 provide 24-bit colour on the IIcx in System 6? And if so, would the performance difference...

    Thinking about getting a IIcx

Thanks for the info everyone. I think the ASTEC supplies are the most common alright so maybe the chances of getting a IIcx without one would be fairly slim. Still, I wouldn't be running it fully loaded so that might help with the strain. And that fix is something I could look into if ever...

    Thinking about getting a IIcx

That's good to know about the accelerators. For now I just want a setup that can run A/UX and System 6 without any major problems. I don't have any need for A/UX but I've had copies of 2.0 and 3.0 for what seems like forever and just want to see them in action. Compatible Macs just never seem to...

    Thinking about getting a IIcx

I'd really like to get some form of A/UX-compatible Mac and have been thinking about a IIcx. It can run all versions (even the unobtanium 1.x) and will also give me System 6 in colour. The smaller case should make shipping one a bit easier and cheaper too. I'm trying to put together a list of...
