I'm using a MDD to play a few games. For gaming I found mechanical hard drives to be a pain. I tried various hard drive setups but right now I'm using a Compact Flash with ide adapter. Fast and inexpensive
I have several Sonnet SATA cards. They are bootable.
I've used one in an 8600.
Earlier cards listed MacOS 8.5 as minimum OS but I've heard of people using earlier OSes.
About 6 weeks ago I picked up a batch 9 Mac Pros for $50 each from a company that mostly wanted them out of their store room. One was a 2010, 2 were 2008 and the rest were 2006. I kept the 2010 and put 2 on CL and have almost made my money back. I keep meaning to put some others on CL but keep...
Picked up a 2009 2.66 quad core Mac Pro for parts for $50. No RAM, HD or video card. Installed those and it booted right up. Have to run it a bit to make sure it’s stable and maybe do a firmware update to 5,1

It's very very rare to have a floppy controller with 20 pin connectors and adapters to 19 pin. In virtually all IIe with a 19 pin connector the cable is permanently attached to the card. Best choice is to either find another floppy controller or a physical disk of a copy program.
I got the SATA extension, had to modify it a little so it would fit. Tried it out with an external power supply and the drive showed up right away. It was late and I thought I’d think about the next step the following day.
At 6am I wake up with a question. I’d tried a couple of different...
Picked up a bunch of what were supposed to be 2.66 1,1 Mac Pros for what worked out to $50 each. In amongst them were 3 later machines. A couple of 2008 8 core 2.8 and a 2010 quad core 2.8 with 2 Radeon 5770s. All the machines are working fine except the 2010 which has an issue. None of the 4...
Looking for an opinion or maybe someone's tried this. If I transfer the cache chips from a 466 DA CPU card to a card from a tray loading iMac, will it show up as 1mb, 512k or not at all
