I bought a MiniDV camcorder and a MDD in early 2003. Did a lot of video work and never had any issues transferring the video to the Mac. Of course I had all new equipment and tapes. Old tapes and not so clean heads might make a big difference
It basically just adds more PCIe slots to my Mac Pro.
Anything that fits in a PCIe slot should work.
The Mac Pro SATA ports has a top transfer speed of 3 gigabits per second. The PCIe slots have about twice that speed so I'm booting off a SSD on a PCIe card. I have 1 OWC card for a SATA drive...
I'm prepared for this, I'd previously picked op some medical grade power supplies for this eventuality. Actually I picked up ones that I could squeeze into a Vulcan. With the Apple power supply I don't have to do any squeezing.
Finally got around to taking a pic
Not vert visible but it contains 3 hard drives on cards and a USB 3 card. Now I just need something for the other 15 slots
Had an interesting occurrence. On powering up a IIgs the video was grainy. Turns out I was getting only 2 volts on one of the 12v pins. Swapped in a spare and video was normal. All the caps and everything look ok. I guess it’s time to upgrade the power supply.
Picked up a 20 slot expansion box for my 5,1 Mac Pro. Actually two expansion boxes but only one one interface card for the Mac Pro. One Stop Systems Max Express. A little loud with 3 large internal fans. Thought about disconnecting 1 or 2 fans as I can’t see myself ever filling it but the way...
Yeah, looks like artmixs SCSI-CF cards are history. Sort of wish I'd bought a couple more. Last year I bought one of his SCSI-SD cards. I installed it in an external SCSI case and used it with a variety of Macs and Apple IIs with no issues.
Haven't tried Patriot. I did try 3 brands. An intel which initially worked but seemed to lose it's formatting repeatedly. Moved it over to a macbook where it worked fine. A Samsung worked fine until I got rid of the G5. I don't recall the third brand. It had issues as well but is working fine in...
I have DazzleDraw somewhere. I'll see about getting some more software over to the IIe. Between them the kids spent about 8 hours on the IIe yesterday so I guess I'm not taking it home tonight. They won't use it much today as it's super busy with martial arts classes and dance. I'll leave it...
I have those programs somewhere in storage but lack the time to look right now. There's not a lot of spare room there so I'll leave the IIe until the weekend. I'll bring it back after new years. By then I'll be better prepared I hope.
A nine year old kid I take care of a lot said he’d like to try one of those computers with the big keys. I was unsure what he meant so I showed him a pic of a IIe. Whereupon he said “That’s the one”. So I brought over a IIe with mouse, joystick, DuoDisk and ColorMonitor IIe. All the kids...
I've got an Apple and a C-vue IIc lcd and yes they are terrible displays. They aren't backlit and need either sunlight or a strong light source to be readable.
