So since my last post - I swapped out the 6200's logic board with one that I saved from a 5260/120.  Huge improvement and I also added a bunch of other spare stuff - ethernet, TV tuner, AV card, etc.  The 6200 came with a 256k L2 cache card that prevents the 5260 board from booting but works...

I know for sure I have a double sided 32MB SIMM and a single sided 16MB SIMM on the logic board and an identical 32MB double sided SIMM on the DOS card.  The 64MB SIMMs I have are double sided. In reality, not much difference, although I swear it feels faster while running everyday tasks. ...

I hear it's possible - I know for sure that the second slot for sure does not support anything larger than 16MB, I tried it.  But just one 64MB stick would give me a theoretical max of 84MB.  And maybe the DOS card would see a full 64MB stick too but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

One of my favorites.  Maybe because it was also my first 68k?  The DOS compatible ones are super cool, that's what I have. Mine is also overclocked to 40MHz and has a full '040 chip.  HUGE improvement over 33MHz. I've had it maxed out at 52MB memory for years but now have come across some 64MB...

Not much up here, 20 cents a pound or so.  Just took in a bunch, didn't get what I expected.   :sadmac: I definitely woulda picked these up though, good score.  Seems to me they're a little more useful than a G5 and they look just as cool.

I don't know which one of those boards would work, match part numbers for yours, I guess?  Although ~$150 is obscene.  Recap if you can do it is a LOT cheaper, or maybe just find another iMac that you can score a good/better analog board from?  They're still dirt cheap. I'd probably hold off on...

Probably goes without saying but have you tried the 3x PRAM zap trick?  Hold command, option, P and R right after the startup chime until you hear the startup chime again. I mean it could be a hardware issue, could be caps, who knows, but the PRAM zap trick fixed a lot of weird stuff back when...

Just for fun you should try booting as normal, wait a bit, then try command-control-power shortcut keys.  This bypasses the RAM test and usually you get video almost immediately.   Have you tried different memory?  What about disconnecting everything from the logic board except the power...

I would offer an educated guess that all server variants had standard SCSI PCI cards AND 10/100 ethernet cards - every one I've seen did.  They also had factory 72 pin SCSI hard drives.

I have both a flashed Radeon 9200 and a Radeon 7000 Mac Edition.  IMO the 7000 is the superior card right out of the box because it's better supported.  My 9200 has always had weird quirks with the drivers and whatnot, and it's not much faster, if at all even though it's got 4x more memory.
