RasterOps Clear Vue GS30 for me SE/30 died...any ideas why?

@techknight- I'm honestly not sure.  But as I've replace most of the parts that supply power to different parts of the board, I'm hoping that it just keeps working.  So far, so good! @SE30_Neal-Where I live in the U.S. is definitely similar to the U.K.  I live in the five college area in...

RasterOps Clear Vue GS30 for me SE/30 died...any ideas why?

@SE30_Neal  Thanks!  I use this for a bunch of stuff as well, including writing, and even Photoshop (It will run Photshop 4 with reasonable speed, especially with the 128mb of RAM).  And all of the extra screen real estate is nice, especially if I'm working on an excel spreadsheet.  My only...

RasterOps Clear Vue GS30 for me SE/30 died...any ideas why?

Pretty much process of elimination.  I have to admit that the issue with the inductor was my own fault...but more on that in a bit.  The main part that failed was the 50mhz clock, which was my original thought (that one of the clocks was bad).  But I wasn't sure, so I replaced the transistors...

RasterOps Clear Vue GS30 for me SE/30 died...any ideas why?

Finally figured it out the other week-had an inductor that also needed replacing.  It's nice to have the card up and running again, at a resolution of 1024 X 768 in glorious 256 shades of grey:

Scored a Mac SE/30 with Ethernet and video card!

@krishnadraws- I can tell you from experience that the SE/30 will run up to Photoshop 4 (Photoshop 5 and above requires a power mac) reasonable well, but to run 4 you'll definitely want more RAM.  Actually, you'll want more RAM anyways!  There was a seller who was (I think still is?)selling...

RasterOps Clear Vue GS30 for me SE/30 died...any ideas why?

Welp, so far I replaced the 80mhz crystal, transistors, voltage reference, all of the electrolytic capacitors, and two muxes: the CD74ACT153E (below the 50mhz clock) and the 74HCT139n.  And after doing all of that, I got.....nothing.  Then i replaced the 50Mhz clock, and finally I got a...

Found my old Mac in my parents' storage!

That's nice looking Mac Plus setup!  I grew up with an original Macintosh 128k that we had upgraded to a whopping 512k.  My parents used to work at a local computer store and bought it about 1986 or so for a steep discount:  $1000, and that included an image writer I printer.  Alas, it got sold...

    Large volumes in a 68030

I use Lido 7 to partition my drives.  In my SE/30 I am currently using a SCSI2SD converter with a 16gb micro SD card that I have partitioned into 4 4gb slices.  Works great!   And it sure is nice to have the space.

Interware VDR-2a video card for Macintosh SE/30

@olePigeon@EvilCapitalistThanks!  I still can't believe it;  It's a nice addition to my collection.  Now if I can only get my Rasterops Color Board 108 SE/30 fully operational.....

Interware VDR-2a video card for Macintosh SE/30

I bid on this at the last minute about two weeks ago and was kind of shocked when I won!  Especially for what I paid for it; at $80, it feels like I practically stole this card.  It displays up to millions of colors at 640x480, and has pretty cool looking splash screen to boot: The cool splash...

SE/30 Xceed greyscale adapter cloning thread

Hello all,  I have a thought: would it be possible to base this project off of another SE/30 video Card?  Myself have have several of them, including a RasterOps 264/SE30, a RasterOps ClearVue GS30,  and my newest addition straight from eBay, an Interware VDR-2a.   Would it be possible to...

RasterOps Clear Vue GS30 for me SE/30 died...any ideas why?

Hello all,      A few weeks ago I had the good fortune to pick up a few SE/30's with video cards, including one with a RasterOps Clear Vue GS30.  So I put it into my main SE/30 to test it out.  It worked well for about a week, having the ability to display 256 shades of grey at 1024 x 768.  And...

    A few SE/30's I found on eBay

@joshc Hey, a network card is still a good find!  And certainly worth a few $$ if you want to sell it on eBay.  Of course, it would be lovely to buy an SE/30 and find a Daystar accelerator plugged into the CPU slot!

    A few SE/30's I found on eBay

Last week while I was on eBay looking for old macs I came across an auction with 20 different old Macintosh computers, most of them compact macs- and a few of them SE/30's.  The total for the auction was $640 and you had to go to Iowa to pick them all up!       Long and short of it nobody...

    IIci with a surprise inside!

Awesome!  I bought a IIci last year with a Sonnet 040 in it as well, although I didn't do quite as good as you did-it cost me $200.  However, the IIci was running!

ProtoCache for the SE/30 - What's the status?

Hello, I too was wondering what was happening with this project.  I posted in another thread that I'd  would possible like to continue with it if no one else would object.  @joethezombie-do you know where the schematics are for the current state of the project?
