    ImageWriter Ribbon Cartridge Problems

@bigmessowires -Those seem like a great deal! I'll have to order a few and try my luck.

    ImageWriter Ribbon Cartridge Problems

I shouldn't make a difference. The voltage is just what is powering the printer, and the printer's operations should be the same with either 240 or 120 volts.

    ImageWriter Ribbon Cartridge Problems

@Phipli -Thanks! I think that I bought these ribbons 5 years ago or so....I can't remember. I got this one with a few color ribbons, which best I can tell have suffered the same fate. Other than the rollers everything seems good. Of course, I think that the design idea of using a foam...

    ImageWriter Ribbon Cartridge Problems

I have a few ImageWriter II's and I finally decided to get around to getting one of them up and running for a project I'm working on. The ImageWriter itself is in good shape, but of course, the cartridge that was in it didn't seem to be working. So I decided to swap it out for a new old stock...

Yahoo Japan/Buyee major score- SE/30 with extras

@cheesestraws @Aeroform -Later when I get home, I'll try a couple of key combinations at start-up and see what I get.

    An old Techworks Accelerator ad

@bigmessowires -Yea, the 68040 accelerators were definitely a bit steep! And very expensive in today's dollars if you do a time/value of money calculation on them. However, I think that the 68030 25Mhz accelerator wasn't too obscenely priced for the day....especially when a new 68030 based...

    An old Techworks Accelerator ad

I found this old ad from 1992 wedged into one of the manuals for a Daystar accelerator I recently acquired. I wonder just how many forgotten Mac Classics are still sitting on someone's shelves like in this ad......

Yahoo Japan/Buyee major score- SE/30 with extras

I actually have a GrandVimage 24-16s in my collection-man does that card have a bunch of video resolution options! Alas, the driver that works for that card does not work for any of the VDR-2x cards, including this one.

Yahoo Japan/Buyee major score- SE/30 with extras

Well, I've tried several operating systems with this, including O.S. 7.5.3....and I still cannot get this card to display in any other resolution other than 640x480. I found a mystery resistor on one of it's multiplexers (74f251ap). I de-soldered it to see if that would affect anything with...

Two Days, Four Meetups, Too Much Macintosh Stuff

@bigmessowires -Unfortunately no, just VGA and DVI on all of the ones that I have. These monitors came brand new circa the early-to-mid aughts with the Dell computers I used to distribute, so I guess Dell didn't see the need to install composite video on them.

Daystar Powercache 50Mhz with all the trimmings

I picked up this Daystar 68030 powercache accelerator with a Macintosh II adapter off of eBay. Added bonus was that it came with a whole bunch of documentation....even still has the warranty card! And it came in the original box too. Only thing that it didn't come with was a 68882 math...

Two Days, Four Meetups, Too Much Macintosh Stuff

On the subject of LCD monitors for vintage macs, I really like the Dell 170x 4:3 montiors, such as the Dell1708FP pictures here. I used to work at a local college that was throwing these away on a regular basis(!) in favor of 16:9 aspect ratio monitors, so I was able to grab a small collection...

Yahoo Japan/Buyee major score- SE/30 with extras

@Aeroform -It looks like the difference with the VDR-2J is similar to the difference with the VDR-2L: All of the Oscillator sockets are filled on the VDR-2j, and it has different firmware- version 1.0.3 as opposed to the version 1.00 I usually see on VDR-2a. I would assume that this is so the...

Does anyone know what this card is/goes to?

@SophieRose -That looks like it! Now, what to do with it.....

Does anyone know what this card is/goes to?

I got this off of Ebay a while back in a lot of Mac parts. Judging by the chips that it has I think that it is a video card, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any idea what this card might go to? Maybe it doesn't even go to a Mac at all!

    Macintosh SE/30 with a VDR-2a video card!

@ArmorAlley -I admit that I did neglect to mention that I had to start it up with extensions; for some reason, every time I tried to power it up with the extensions on, it crashed. I'd assume that the extensions give it the functionality to properly display Japanese characters, but I'm not...

Checker-board screen with 68030 Performer Accel in Mac SE

Burning the GALS should be pretty strait-forward; myself, I use a TL866II and have always had good luck with it. As long as you've matched up the chip properly in you chip programmer's interface, it should work. Just make sure that you have the right image!

    Macintosh SE/30 with a VDR-2a video card!

@ObeyDaleks -The shipping was steep, at $150. But in the end, the total purchase price was $325, which is pretty reasonable for what I got! @Juror22 -I very much enjoy getting a machine in this condition! The keyboard is actually from another machine that I purchased from Japan, but it does...

    Macintosh SE/30 with a VDR-2a video card!

I picked this up off of Buyee/yahoo Japan a few days ago. I put a sniper bid on it, expecting not to win....but by some miracle I did. Like most of us that look for SE/30's, what drew my eye to this machine was the fact that it had a video connector sticking out the back. Of course you...

MICRON Xceed Grey Scale video card with the works for sale on Buyee! I wonder how much this one will go for?

@ObeyDaleks -I am not necessarily shocked by these prices. First as had been mentioned is the rarity of the parts-both a Micron Xceed greycale with all of the trimmings and a pristine SE/30 are hard to come by, with-of course- the micron Xceed being the part that is very hard to come by. And...
