    Interware device software

@bregard - I think that it probably has something to do with the Daystar 68040 accelerator, but I'm not sure. I wonder if you are getting enough power from your power supply to properly power up everything. Does your Grand Vimage card work fine with a 68030 based accelerator card (If you...

    Interware device software

That's where I got mine from during the pandemic- for $355. I too have been searching for another one....and have even gone so far as to buy a few SE/30's from Yahoo! Japan with video card connectors sticking out the back of them. And......no luck. I too haven't seen one for sale in...

    Interware device software

@bregard -I have a GrandVimage 24-16 installed in my SE/30, which is an awesome video card. I have the GrandVimage control panel installed to control it, which includes the ability to turn on the card's video acceleration! As for the VDR-2A, I don't think that they ever had a control panel...

@ClassicGuyPhilly -Did you ever hear of a local ISP called "Galaxy Internet Service"? I had them from about 2000 until 2013 when they, unfortunately, when out of business....pushed out by crappy and completely enshitified ISP's such as ComCa$t.

@ClassicGuyPhilly -How about one of these??! I actually used one of these back in the day for my first online experience. But seriously, I miss the time when we had more choices for our internet providers.....even if the speed was limited to 9600 (14400 by the time I got online). Now it is...

That's a clean looking SE/30!! Good find and save.

    Interware VDR-2a BIOS

From what I understand, the VDR-2J and VDR-2L are capable of different resolutions other than just 640x480 (as seen by the addition of more clock crystal to control the vertical and horizontal resolution) but I have never had much luck in making it work.

    Interware VDR-2a BIOS

These are all PDS cards for the SE/30; my guess is it different from a nubus BIOS (because of the different kind of expansion slot) but I'm not entirely sure. Anyways, I have both a -L and a -J versions of these VDR-2 cards; here are the BIOS dumps for them and pictures of their associated cards:

    Interware VDR-2a BIOS

@jasa1063 - I have both an Interware VDR-2a and a VDR-2l; attached is a copy of the BIOS from the VDR-2a. Let me know if you need a copy of the other one as well.

    Different ROM SE/30

I didn't know that.....thanks for the info! I will admit, that while I have a few BMOW ROMs I mostly use ROMs that I received from Zane....who I guess isn't on the board anymore (I do believe he helped found Tinker Different). I was beta testing them for him...and have been so impressed by...

    Different ROM SE/30

@jacopodn -that's what the BMOW ROM-inator is for!! You'll definitely love it. Mode 32 works as well, although I prefer to replace the ROM with a 32-bit clean one.

    Different ROM SE/30

Agree with what @obsolete said. I have probably half a dozen different kinds of SE/30 ROM SIMMS; if they are stock, they all (at least from what I have seen!) do the same thing. I think it mostly came down to what kinds of chips they could get their hands on at the time to use in them. Most...

    Goodwill find: Mac SE

@derFunkenstein You could always get an accelerator for your SE! I was actually beta testing an SE accelerator that was made by @zane, called the "Warp SE"; it is based on a 68000 cpu clocked at 25Mhz. It works great, and is still currently in one of my SE's. Sadly, I haven't heard anything...

Macintosh SE with Lapis Displayserver card

Has anyone had any luck getting this card to display on an external monitor? I've tried a few options so far....and not much luck, yet. I've tried directly connecting a monitor to both the VGA port(LCD monitor) and the CGA port (an old Tandy monitor). The Tandy seems to want to work....except...

SE/30 with a Maxell Battery Surprise

I know, right?! Every time I have opened up one of these with a Maxell battery, the board is usually a total lose. This was a first for me. Kinda does, doesn't it? However, every time I encounter a Maxell battery bombed SE/30, the metal chassis is also rusted. I'm just glad it didn't take...

SE/30 with a Maxell Battery Surprise

I've had this SE/30 sitting around for a year or so now. I meant to pull out the video card (another Interware VDR-2a) an inspect the motherboard when I got it, but never got around to it until today. So I was pretty surprised to see that this has a Maxell battery in it.....that hasn't...

My wife and I have adopted a 41-year-old baby named Lisa

That's awesome @Huxley ! When I was a little kid in the '80s, my parents used to work at a computer store that sold Apple/Macs. I still remember playing with a Lisa on the showroom floor! Unfortunately, I can't remember a thing as far as any cool tips or tricks go. Only thing that I can...

    Oh No! More Macs

Nice score @robin-fo ! Looks like it is in excellent condition. Did it have any PDS cards (like a video card) in it? And nice train as well! I guess that, for an American, I am lucky, as the town that I live in (Northampton, Ma) still has a train station in it.

    Monitors and Floppy Disk Haul

You know, these old compact Macs actually don't use as much electricity as you'd think. I myself always thought that something like a Mac Plus would use somewhere around 100 watts-which isn't completely horrible, especially compared with some of these modern gaming rigs! But it actually uses...
