I've got 512mb in my Sawtooth G4 (350mhz) and I run photoshop cs2 fine in it. It can lag when messing around with fonts in the text tool, but so does my i5 quad 3.5ghz desktop with 8gb of ram.

So I created a 1MB HFS volume and just threw random files from a Quadra restore CD on it, until it was basically full. Problem is, I really don't know what to look for, 1MB HFS volume turned into a 7MB text file. The beginning and end of the file are all zeroes. \ EDIT: "Code" formatting...

even over ADB I'm sure it's better than coax offers. And yea, ADB is SVideo or SVHS exactly pin compatible.

I'm guessing they need all that extra space for airflow, I wonder how that cool that machine could stay if it used the case as an extension of the heatsink..

There's gotta be some third party USB drivers for System 7. I don't know how they wouldn't have tried to capitalize on USB. Microsoft had it implemented in Windows 95 versions early as 8/1996.  I'm really thinking there's gotta be something, since the first PCI Macs debuted around (earlier)...

Could be a bad SVideo cable. My G3 boots fine from the keyboard when plugged in directly, but I have it plugged into a KVM switch, and it won't boot that way anymore.

OS 8.5 & 9 can read USB drives, but it needs the USB Mass Storage driver installed prior to using them.  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1265

carbonlib 1.0.4 is for 8.1+up, I can't seem to find a newer one that the installer 'requires' less than 8.6.. it's probably fine to just copy the extension from another install just like appearance manager.

To be honest, AOL did just about the same thing as that web rendering proxy. It handled the pages off site, and compressed images (the aol *.art file format) and you got the crappy version over dialup. System 6 and 68k's aren't meant to be on broadband connections, if anything they are supposed...

SimCity 2000 works just fine in 512x384. Complains about using it in less than 256 colors but will run in 16 also.
