So I cleaned up some boxes in the basement, an look what I found. Stil MIA is the keyboard, and the power adapters, but otherwise complete. Anyone have a solution for the sticky feeling that's built up over the years? I'm guessing it's from the degradation of the rubber coating.

For irons I use a Pinecil, and/or a Rhagon RJ2090 that work great for any assembly jobs I've done. For taking things apart I use a S993a desolder gun to remove thru hole devices, and a 858d hot air station for removing SMD stuff.

Do any of the AB not cause misery? The ones in my color classics were a huge pain to make work. My SE machine got all new caps and refused to work, until I left it for a few days; then it worked (many bad words were used).

This would be my guess too. The question now is live with it, or reflow all the solder points in the hope it fixes the issue?
