    So, I bought a portable…

One my 'favourite' moments from Computer Chronicles is when the guy from Apple is demonstrating this very feature, forgets to put the battery cover back on, and the machine shuts off. Then he can't turn it back on again to continue the demo because the power manager needs to be reset... he...

    So, I bought a portable…

LOL yeah sorry I guess there's still debate on this in the sense there's still debate about anthropogenic climate change... the actual experts overwhelmingly agree, but you still find folks out there who don't. At least I still see lots of comments online (not here) that using a 1xx adapter is...

    So, I bought a portable…

Well, technically and historically it's true - people did (and still do) use 1xx adapters with Portables as an 'unauthorized workaround'... But I agree a caveat could be added here, noting that the machine was not designed to run from an AC adapter (rather the adapter was designed to charge the...

    Macintosh Portable Feet Remake

There's an STL for the flat ones here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2547630 I suppose this one could be altered for the 90deg ones?

Powerbook 145b repair attempt needs help

Where / how did you order the cable? After replying earlier, I popped over to Digikey to see what kinds of assemblies they had but couldn't find anything with the four-row through-hole end... would love to know!

Powerbook 145b repair attempt needs help

Oh man, I feel you on this... sometimes things just roll downhill with a vicious momentum. I did something similar with the keyboard flat cable for a Toshiba T4600c - cleaning off conductive paint thinking it was oxidation - then stupidly thought I could tin the cable instead but just melted in...

    Mac Portable battery charger tray

You don't necessarily need to own one... you may have a makerspace near you that will provide access to a printer, or in some areas there are printer shops... or on online outfit like JLCPCB offers printing services. Lots of options

    Powerbook 100 happiness

This is totally a tangent, but it's funny to me that at VCF this year there was a talk on 1xx series PB collecting and both speakers recommended avoiding 100's because the caps are leaky and other usual issues, but man I couldn't disagree more. I love these weird little dudes, and mine is one...

Mac Plus not booting from Blue SCSI

I can't speak with direct experience, but I've heard some folks having luck with this by formatting the image with Lido EDIT: Apparently not

    Apple //c won't boot

Nice. ADTPro with the IIc works great (easy to make a serial cable, just need floppies) - but they're also great emulators now, Floppy Emu, Fujinet, wDrive...

    Apple //c won't boot

Hey that's great!! Congrats! Be sure to run some diagnostics to put the RAM etc through its paces and make sure everything is cool. The XPS one is pretty good: https://mirrors.apple2.org.za/ftp.apple.asimov.net/images/disk_utils/diagnostics/XPS Diagnostic IIe 1.0.5.dsk This one is the dealer...

    G3 BMT dumpster rescue

Nice! I'm surprised these finds are still happening... someone in another thread just found a Portable in case on the side of the road... maybe we're entering a new phase!?

    Apple //c won't boot

And - I'm kind of joking but also not - if they're MT branded chips, just do a complete swap out (with sockets)

    Apple //c won't boot

Well... assuming your CPU, MON, MMU, and IOU are all good, that only leaves the RAM afaik. Do you know which ROM version it has? Can you attempt the self diagnostic? When you replaced MRD7, did it have any effect?

    Apple //c won't boot

Darn, I thought you had found something there, like a bad TMG (though a 1.02 doesn't seem like a bad output)... one last clock to check is Q3 on pin 16 of the TMG should also be 2.05. If that's good, then you need to check for RDY, IRQ, and NMI on the CPU - they should all be high. Pins 2, 4...
