Congratulations on finding your dream machine! I don’t know exactly what part we’re talking about, but if I had one I think I would be able to make one. Until that day I’m not much of help I’m afraid.

Well, right now I’m working on the aforementioned Quadra 9X0 Nubus slot cover and bezel, a light pipe for II, IIx or IIfx, and a SCSI2SD 5.1 mount for a Mac Portable. Then I would like to find/make a programmer switch for a II, IIx or IIfx.

I always thought 512x342 was an aesthetical choice. Whereas 640x480 is a 4:3 double-page spread -- 512x342 is closer to 2:3 folio (rotated).

I would say the original ’Macintosh IIci Cache’ gives a performance increase with approximately 25%. I haven’t experienced any crashes in particular, and since they are pretty easy to come by, I would certainly go for one if I were you.

The distorted video disappeared when I added an extra SCSI hard drive to the chain. Could it perhaps have something to do with the SCSI2SD 5.1 I’m using? The subtle sqeaking noise is still there though. Well, I suppose I’ll have to keep digging …
