SE/30 Black screen but works otherwise

The flyback transformer of SE and SE/30 has an internal discharge resistor. So you may not hear the discharge crack. But it is always safe to discharge.

SE/30 Black screen but works otherwise

It means CRT is alive. But if you tested with another analog board, then ok. Try to recap it. In the worst case could be the flyback transformer

SE/30 Black screen but works otherwise

No, the joke connector is the big connector ( 4 poles ) that goes to the joke coil, on the neck of the crt, where you all the copper around. Did you try to put another power supply ? Have you recapped the analog board ? one more thing,...when Mac is on try to turn off room light, is there a...

SE/30 Black screen but works otherwise

-12V is not used by SE/30 itself, it is just passed through PDS slow or expansion board (if needed), btw, -8V is odd. Do you have a spare logic board, from any other SE or SE/30, that you can put in and test ? just to be sure that the issue resides on analog board. (Also analog board and PSU...

Macintosh LC, no battery, but very bad caps leakage

I think I found the issue, it should be the the audio amplifier 34119 I removed it and the traces are quite messy can be fixed. I have already ordered the IC, let see next week.

Macintosh LC, no battery, but very bad caps leakage

Hi, I just recapped the power supply too and now machine boots untethered, I have also installed additional VRAM in order to support VGA resolution. Everything works, but now I have very low or no sound, should I try to reflow the sound chip ?

Macintosh LC, no battery, but very bad caps leakage

Hi everyone, sorry for the late, I finally recapped the entire logic board, it took a while to obtain all the new tantalium caps. Now the chime sound is mych better, crystal clear, attached floppy Emu and it s reading it. I cannot connect a display right now but I should be able in the coming...

Macintosh LC, no battery, but very bad caps leakage

Update, all caps removed and some new one has been already installed. I'm waiting for the 10uF / 16V, hope to get these by Tuesday. I think the Egret works fine as I could barely hear the chime at startup and, triggering interrupt by Command-Power on keyboard, I can hear also listen at the death...

Macintosh LC, no battery, but very bad caps leakage

Hi, I was not expecting winegear to be good for cleaning boards. I have done a first cleaning and I tried to powerup the 5V. I can barely hear the chime ! Tomorrow I'll start recap, better cleaning and some reflow. I'm wondering one thing... why egret chip on an hardware poweron machine ?

Macintosh LC, no battery, but very bad caps leakage

I'm quite confident at recapping / resoldering..., my concern is that this time I see the board in a very bad state,,,

Macintosh LC, no battery, but very bad caps leakage

I have I recovered a Mac LC in a garage, when I opened it I see that there were no battery installed, which is good, but after a deeper inspection I realized that capacitors did a quite big mess. Do you think I can try to recover it ? Thank you Amedeo

    Daystar PowerCache info

Hi all, I have the DayStar power cache on my SE/30, thank you @Bolle I'm curious about one thing, I have FPU on daystar, but If I remove the FPU on card would the Mac use the FPU on logic board ? My guess is that PowerCache takes over the entire CPU/FPU, but asking just to be sure. Thank you

Hi all I have seen a video by @JDW about color classic resolution upgrade. Do you know if that mod would interfere with Apple IIe board which uses res by 560x384 ? Thank you Amedeo

@Knez how the high current happened ?

DiimoCache in SE/30 really unstable when cache is turned on

iirc the DayStar powercache also had issues turning on caches when running on SE/30, I'm not aware of DiMo, however the DayStar one works fine if used with @Bolle twin adapter that includes a built in ethernet. You could try, however every board have its own story, probably Bolle could give you...
