LaserWriter IINT - Brand New HP 95A Toner Smearing

I picked up a boxed, mint condition LaserWriter IINT over the holidays on the cheap. Based on the page count shown on the test page and the overall appearance of the unit, it was hardly used (only 4000 or so pages printed if the page count is accurate). The only flaw with it, apart from it...

Problem Installing "Born Again" on IIfx

@DracheMitch Before the site crash someone posted that link. Might be a last resort if I can't determine why Born Again won't accept my OEM 8.1 disc.

Apple PC 5.25 Drive for the SE and Mac II (and perhaps others)

If and when I get my IIx running, I'll load System 6.0.8 and try out the PC drive. Both Varta batteries are dead and I need to find someone who can solder in some battery holders a-la IIfx.

Apple PC 5.25 Drive for the SE and Mac II (and perhaps others)

A couple of months ago, I purchased two Apple PC 5.25" drives on eBay along with the hard-to-find (but necessary) NuBus controller card for the Mac II series. I had several threads showing my progress in getting the PC drive to work with System 7.1 on my IIfx to view PC/DOS documents from my...

Problem Installing "Born Again" on IIfx

Any other tips or is this another doomed project?

Problem Installing "Born Again" on IIfx

Prior to the site crash, I discussed in another thread installing OS 8.1 on my IIfx using an installer script called Born Again. I was able to locate a legit OS 8.1 install disc on eBay on the cheap, however Born Again for some reason does not recognize my OS 8.1 disc (even though it mounts on...

    someone's conquest on reddit..

Wouldn't mind finding a working HP DeskWriter. I still have the install disks and manuals for my mom's old 3.1

Apple ADC Monitor to Macintosh II?

Yeah I know. I was hoping it would have worked without having to purchase a converter.

Apple ADC Monitor to Macintosh II?

Prior to the site crash, I noted that I had purchased an Apple ADC-to-DVI adapter for my 22" Cinema Display. Unfortunately nothing happened when I connected the Cinema Display to my IIfx. Didn't matter if I used my High-Res card or the 8.24 GC card. Fast-forward a few months: my 19" LaCie...

    Value of a IIsi

Just list it for $1000 on Kijiji. And don't forget to put "RARE" and "VINTAGE" in the ad title.

Apple ADC Monitor to Macintosh II?

Here's hoping but I highly doubt Papa Ford is going to reopen everything in February, especially now with all of these variants popping up. Besides, we already went through with this nonsense last June with modified stages and this is the outcome thus far.  Damn I wish you lived closer. I drove...

Apple ADC Monitor to Macintosh II?

So I picked up a 22" (even though it was advertised as a 23" HD) M8149 Apple Cinema display monitor yesterday for $100 (pics to come later). Works (seller had it hooked up to his G4), just needs some cleaning up. Heavy bugger.  Stupid question: I learned that there was an earlier model, the...

    Kanga Death Chime

I've tried booting without extensions; doesn't seem to make a difference. If I ever get really motivated, I might attempt to remove the hard drive and try it on my Quadra 950 or G3 tower.

    Kanga Death Chime

If you are referring to the rubber texture on the back of the screen, they generally tend to wear out quick around the corners and are very scratch-prone so some care is needed. Otherwise its fairly durable. The only *real* issues that I've had with ThinkPads are the hinges, batteries, and...

    Kanga Death Chime

It's everything. Screws, trap doors, top/bottom cover, etc. These PowerBooks are a pain in the ass. Nothing like an old ThinkPad that you can just leave for months on end and it will work again with little fuss.

    Kanga Death Chime

Count me in as another Kanga owner with boot problems. Mine will reach the welcome screen, try to load, and then hang indefinitely. Restart sometimes results in chimes of death or a return to the welcome screen with the same hanging problem.  I really don't want to dig too deep into this thing...

Apple ADC Monitor to Macintosh II?

Apart from aesthetics, I never really cared for Apple's final CRT models. Too many flyback transformer failures and the plastics were brittle. My LaCie Electron Blue IV (which is essentially the same monitor) has been flawless in the 5+ years I've owned it and as noted earlier, works perfectly...

Apple ADC Monitor to Macintosh II?

Good to hear people are still level-headed in Switzerland. Ever since Steve Jobs died, mostly everyone in my neck of the woods increased their prices tenfold convinced that they now owned a rare and unique item. Another factor is all of those YouTube personalities who do reviews or service old...
