Yep, upon closer inspection they are. I have some nice Panasonic Tantalum capacitors I'm going to try. I tried using Tantalum's on my last logic board, but gave up in frustration and switched to electrolytic ones with nice big legs on them! I think my soldering skills have improved since then...

I nabbed this off eBay as soon as I saw it. It's in impeccable condition, with original service box. I haven't tested it yet though! I'll replace the battery ASAP, and I guess I should do the caps too? Although they look perfect.

Give the current wifi extension a go, as there's a good chance that it'll work. Although I don't have one of the external Vonets boxes, the screenshots of the web interface look nearly identical to the VM300.

Thanks for the info about the ground lines, then it is most likely a bad connection in my wiring. It makes sense, because the errors I get on my Mac are inconsistent - probably depending on how much I've wiggled the wires around! Before I order the adapter, I might first have a go at soldering...

There's only one benefit i can think of - it's fanless. I've just replaced the fan in my SE/30 with a nice quiet Noctua one, and it'd be a shame to add another fan for the PSU. I'm not adverse to keeping the brick outside of the Mac - but I'll assess once it arrives.

Well let's find out shall we... I've ordered the PicoPSU-160-XT kit...

So I think the lesson here is to always listen to @Trash80toHP_Mini, otherwise you'll just blow time and money :p Can you tell me a bit more about the SCA to 50-pin adapter? The SCA connector has 80 pins right? And the HDI-30 has... well... 30 pins (well, 28 on the Asante connector) I found...

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone looked into the PicoPSU's available online? e.g:  plus  They are fanless, and you can get output up to 192W - but perhaps a 100W or 120W would suffice? From what I understand, the stock SE/30 PSU is just 76W? There's probably a lot I haven't considered, but...

Yeah the password should be configurable. If you're able to get it working with the default password then I'll look at adding a config dialog or prefs file.

@markyb86 the VM300 can also function as a WAN router - that's what the onboard Ethernet port is for. It's unused when used as a wifi bridge.

I'm impressed that you manage to change the password using ResEdit - did you have to sift through the CODE resource? Perhaps for the purpose of testing, you could try setting the password back to its default via the Web Interface on the VM300 and see if that works. The network scan takes about...

Thanks everyone for all the great information. I'm gonna give the Seasonic PSU a go! Hopefully it'll fix my issue of not being able to run two PDS cards inside my SE/30 (i.e. Daystar + Ethernet) @nickpunt I'm no electrical engineer - so I'm happy to risk my own life, but I wouldn't trust myself...
