Yeah, Apple and ATI, a history of failings🤓 I once tried the oven baking method, it worked but not for very long..I dont know if a Pro-reballing is worth it?

Compurs/Synchro/Electro-Compurs/Copals/Prontor, all central shutters have the same origin, from old 6x6/6x9 middle format folders to 8x10", they all are the same basically, they just got more refined and bigger. I'm not an expert on this but I got most of them repaired again. Yes, a well-light...

vintage watches..fascinating, you need a lot of patience and very good hand/finger skills for that I guess. I have done a lot of repairs on ancient large format/ view cameras with Compur shutters, the complicated internals often remind me of those of watches, a lot of cogwheel/ springs for...

    iBook G4 A1134

totally, it seems that an all new metal case was enough 'new' engineering for them to go on for years.. then unibody.. when I look into a G4 I instantly am back to the year 1999/ early 2000..IDE, IDE cables, ATI Radeon 7500, VGA, 4:5 ratio, CD-R/DVD, aluminum plate heat sinks, 56k modem, Riva...

Do you have a photo of that paste, is it creamy and white? Normally any modern, good thermal paste will do (like said Arctic).. When I recently did a repaste job on my new MSI gaming Laptop I saw that they stock used a white thick paste on all near voltage transformers under the heatsink...

Pismo Mac OS X 10.4.11 Orinocco Silver drivers?

In a Pismo (400/500 Mhz) you already can use a regular Airport Extreme Type I/II PC CardBus WiFi card. I always use a fully compatible, easy available and cheap Gigaset Siemens 54 PcCard in it. OsX Tiger nativley recognizes it as AirPort Extreme ( Lucent chipset). No need for special drivers and...

    Powerbook G3 Pismo seemingly dead?

I had a Pismo with a standard G3 400 Mhz daugtherboard with booting problems, I carefully removed the board and inspected it..two little pins were ever so slightly crooked, I carefully bent it back..it never booted again..temper temper I hate those connector boards, the latest 500 mhz models had...

    Prototype PowerBook 550 advice

well done..nice! the display brightness and contrast also look quite good.. nice to see one of those rare 550 birds in working condition. the slightly bigger screen of the 550c is nice. the brighter grey plastics color scheme, yes it looks more like the 520/540..if the original state isnt the...

Macintosh 512K painted black - paint stripping options?

I wouldnt try out any hard chemicals on that old vintage brittle plastics..the weakening is much worse. If I wanted to restore this I would respray it with a vintage white spray color. And before that I would check how good that old black spray job was done.. meaning, looking for color run...

    PowerBook 540c black coffee edition

I dont think that would make a big difference, as long as it isnt slower than 70ns..I had my 540c board populated with chips of this funky looking ram stick..I chose this because it had slim type chips. they are now mixed, 2100 AT-6 and 2100 ALLT-7. here 32mB reference boards

    My New Quadra 800

wow that machine has seen better days, I remember we had one of thsoe in our graphics agency. Good luck with the restauration, I really would recommend taking it all apart, cleaning it thoroughly, recap everything before usage. .. like Bruce on YT, it will be worth it. The sticky brown dust...
