If you could bring back classic Mac OS software, what would it be?

I really enjoyed playing WarCraft II Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Great Portal BattleNet edition. This was long before World of Warcraft which is nice but not even close to the same thing. It would be great if I could play these on a modern Mac with current Mac OS either original or upgraded...

    5260/120 issue

I have a pair of these and they are tough to work on. When you slid the logic board out to change the battery, did you look inside the slot to see if there is anything like dust or spiders blocking the connector? Possible use some contact cleaner and make sure it's slides back in properly. Also...

    Phone Talk Networking

There is no additional software needed. If the LocalTalk connection works with a printer cord then it should also work with your PhoneNet connectors. Also I use a mix of different brands of PhoneNet connectors on same network string and it works. Two things to check. As mentioned above the phone...

    Can a PowerMac 8600/200 run in 1280x1024?

I don’t know why your power mac 8600 doesn’t have a PCI video card. Mine came with one. With one of those you’d be all set. No need for adapters.

How do I install Mac OS X Server 10.4 on a Mac mini 1,1 (Early 2006)?

So, you burned the ISO contents (not the ISO itself) to a Dual Layer DVD and you're inserting it into the Mac Super Drive. The Mac has an existing OS to boot from and your DVD mounted on the desktop. Inside the DVD is the Install Mac OS X Server, run it and install to another volume. If your...

Yes I have used Mac OS X server 10.4.7 on a Mac mini 1.1 Mac OS X Server 10.4.7 (Tiger) requires a PowerPC G3, G4, G5, or Intel-based Mac with at least 256MB of RAM (512MB+ recommended), 3GB of available disk space, and a DVD drive for installation. As a Universal release, it supports both...

How to transfer files from PowerBook 1400c to MacBook M3?

Buy an old printer and print the documents. Take the printed documents over to the newer computer and set them on top. Now the documents are on the new machine. Later if you want to, scan the document and save it on the new computer. No fuss.

System 7 - Extension that shows internet connection status

I know it's not exactly what you asked for but sometimes you have to use what is available. So I have used Network Time Control Panel for this. In the settings you can have is get the time from time.apple.com and set it to check on boot and then every minute or so. If it cannot update the time...

    Mac iisi Ethernet woes

Perhaps @imactheknife ’s card is older then and does need manual port speed set and doesn’t require Asante Instalker 5.1.2 as you’re suggesting. Mine could have been released later.

Yea you’re right because even my PowerBook 520c and my PM 8600 have them.

    Mac iisi Ethernet woes

I’m not sure when the two that I have were released I don’t feel like opening them right now but they have RJ 45, coax, and AUI so I’ll assume they were released before twisted pair was officially accepted as the standard. In any event I have never got them to work by connecting them directly to...

    Mac iisi Ethernet woes

With the Asante Installer 5.1.2 Installed after a fresh install of Mac OS 7.5.x I have never had a problem using classic networking or Open Transport on my Mac IIsi or Mac SE/30. I have always had a 10/100 switch between Macs and router. I've never had to manually specify port speed either. With...

Unusual "Memory Plus" SE/30 video card

Sorry for the delay, I was away. The article was from an extensive search and I believe it was the wayback machine, PC Magazine, early 1990's. I didn't bookmark it so I couldn't find it quickly. I'll keep looking. As I recall it was a big write-up about the Mac Portable, SE, SE/30 and Nubus...
