Thanks for sharing this. Having the list of parts available is great. I had mine done about a year ago and have been enjoying the fruits of a buzz-free TAM ever since. None of the caps anywhere seemed problematic or marginal, but also did a full recap of the entire system.

Great, thanks. I had all six of mine opened up last year, and inspected this part. They all pretty much looked like this photo; no visible corrosion as far as I could tell. So I'm curious to see how a corroded one would manifest in this case.

This video from a few years ago provides an overview of the replacement process, and it appears the attempt was successful. There is a blog post linked in the description as well. He used an HR 46162.

Agreed, it is NOT a good idea to try and flex the CD drive cover in any way. The tiny, brittle plastic pegs that hold it inside the front panel are incredibly easy to snap off. The cover should stay attached to the front panel or be inserted/removed from the inside (backside) if that's possible.
