iMac G3 Rev A-D FSB bus overclock

Well, I'm making progress... I tried swapping it for two 128MB RAM sticks, but it still wouldn't turn on. So I removed the top stick and left only 128MB underneath. It turned on!!! But take a good look at the photo: It has the Lombard EEPROM installed, 2.5:1 ratio, the processor is running...

iMac G3 Rev A-D FSB bus overclock

Hello. It's been running fine at 460MHz and 2V Vcore until today, even booting at 500MHz on occasion, I don't think it's due to voltage. I recently added these RAM modules; they're two 512MB PC133 modules, each of which only recognizes 256MB, so I have 512MB. It hasn't given any problems...

iMac G3 Rev A-D FSB bus overclock

Hi, I just tried that, but it didn't work for me. I've tried both 500MHz and 450MHz, and I hear the chime, a crackling noise in the speakers, but the orange LED stays on. I tried this last, simplified combination you mentioned.

iMac G3 Rev A-D FSB bus overclock

Well, it kept the Lombard EEPROM, with the processor at 466MHz and the L2 cache at 183MHz. It didn't work at 500MHz. It now has 200MHz cache chips. I'll try testing the 100MHz this week, although I'm afraid I'll be limited to a 450MHz processor.

iMac G3 Rev A-D FSB bus overclock

Thanks so much for this contribution! I'm going to try it on my iMac! Great work!

    Gigadesigns MC7447 and G4 CUBE

Yes, perhaps when turning on this processor model, it produces a voltage drop sufficient to knock out the device. I have photos of a Gigadesigns for Cube with an MC7457 that has lower-capacity capacitors (4 x 150uF) on the 5V input. Perhaps if I remove the capacitors from the input, it could...

    Gigadesigns MC7447 and G4 CUBE

Hi, some friends and I have been testing upgrades with their G4 Cubes. I think I remember reading in some thread that some processor upgrades aren't compatible with VRM Upgrades, but I can't find it. We're testing with an ARTMIX VRM. The Cube has the MC7447 patcher applied. I have a...

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

I've tried it on a couple of Macs, this one DA and a QS. The same thing happens on both. It works with a Radeon 9000 AGP graphics card; if I add a Radeon 9200 or 7500 PCI card, it also works, and I can boot from the PCI card. They work with just a PCI card. When this GF4 x8 card is connected...

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

@joevt I've mentioned this before. Without covering 3 and 11, even any G4 won't boot. If I cover them, I only hear the chime, but it doesn't go beyond that. No option key, no target mode, no finder, or anything, both with the flashed card and with the PC ROM. Neither one lets me go beyond the...

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

Yes, of course, I've covered 3 and 11 like the other one, otherwise it won't even boot. The same thing happens to me as with the flashed one: it turns on, I hear the chime, and nothing else—no image, no boot menu, no target... I don't have an AGP-PCI adapter.

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

@joevt I've already received the other GF4, but it doesn't seem like it's going to be easy. I've installed it in the DA along with a Radeon PCI card, and the PC ROM still won't boot the Mac. Something in the hardware must be preventing it; it must require some hardware modification. Then I...

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

I've tried telnet, but it didn't work. I tried it with an eMac next to me, but I get nothing. I write in the DA but it freezes after entering the command. On the G4 DA, if I use the GF4, I can't even access OpenFirmware. I'm not sure if I understood the instructions correctly; I don't have much...

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

Wow, I've never connected via telnet with Open Firmware. But I need the patch to boot the computer with the GF4, right? I've tried booting the computer with the GF4, and after the "chime," it seems like it won't boot, it won't display, it won't do anything with the Command key (it doesn't seem...

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

Hi, when I said NVtool, I meant I used a program for OSX PPC to modify the MHz, but I don't remember which one, many months ago. It's similar to what you can do with ATIccelerator, just change the MHz values and save. I didn't add any straps, I don't even know how to do it. I'm still searching...

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

Hello. I only have the last two ROMs I tested, which I've attached. I didn't make any modifications, I don't know how to do them, I just used some NVtool to modify the memory MHz, as the name suggests. I've been looking for the original ROM and can't find where I saved it, and I don't have the...

    Geforce4 MX440 64MB flashable?

In the macos9lives thread I explained a few posts earlier that it was originally an iMac G4 1GHz with GF4, which I overclocked the bus and SWAPed the CPU to an MC7447. https://rosysumenteinquieta.blogspot.com/2025/07/hace-unos-dias-os-mostre-con-imagenes.html Thanks for analyzing the iMac ROM...

Cube Owners: Artmix VRM II available, slightly updated

So, those consumption graphs are of no use to us if the Cube's problem is excessive temperature in that area.

Cube Owners: Artmix VRM II available, slightly updated

This leaves me a bit puzzled, because a few replies ago someone mentioned that maybe the Radeon 9000 was too much for ARTMIX, but according to your graph the Radeon 9000s consume around 15-16W, and as far as I understand the most common replacement for a Cube is a Radeon 7500, which according to...

    MDD Cache speed

    MDD Cache speed

Thanks for your help. I finally found a version of CPU Director that showed this information in the MDD under OS9, and it wasn't the latest version. I verified that the cache ratio was 6:1, and the cache chips support up to 300MHz, so I decided to change the ratio to 5:1 by modifying the...
