Power Macintosh 6500/5500 Logic Board - minimum boot requirements?

ah yeah sorry I was thinking of standalone monitors when I loosely compared performa versus power macs, cheers still as for regarding internal screen size, and regarding black macs .. I guess in theory someone could repaint an all-black imac (even the keyboards already have black keycaps so...

Power Macintosh 6500/5500 Logic Board - minimum boot requirements?

heh well heres a coarse comparison of just four for now; multiplescan 17 @ trintron @ march 1994 multiplescan 1705 @ shadow @ september 1995 applevision 1710 @ trintron @ december 1995 multiplescan 720 @ shadow @ november 1997 on a side note to above, the trinton dropping to shadow seem to...

Power Macintosh 6500/5500 Logic Board - minimum boot requirements?

as for regarding the internal crt itself hmm I can't help wondering if that was for to try further set "performa mac" and "power mac" names apart? but what would I really know tho (even then everymac says that the power mac of that time could had been either a shadow or a trinton monitor both...

Power Macintosh 6500/5500 Logic Board - minimum boot requirements?

actually @Trash80toHP_Mini it was not only 4-digits but 3-digits models too I went to quickly look it up for curiousity sake and hmmmm well heres the surprise as per everymac, the aio performa came out first before the non-aio performa did so that may explain why the harness was originally...

Power Macintosh 6500/5500 Logic Board - minimum boot requirements?

@Trekintosh yeah I think for sure that one big reason it went into the harness too was due to the aio's which precludes placing the monitor port onto the rear of logic board itself because that would make it awkward for internal displays otherwise

    Wings card. Performance enhancement?

gorf well sdi itself still is 'current' but if we're talking about 480 or 720p videos then yeah thats from quite awhile ago whereas the current sdi standard can quite recently handle 4k video! either way regarding capture resolution and disk speed altogether, wasn't that also basically the...

    Wings card. Performance enhancement?

ah interesting gorf, seem the two companies had very similar card designs then as the right one still looks exactly just like the targa pci card re the replaceable few variations of daughter card to 'upgrade' the acute card model itself (on another note one variation of the targa pci card only...

    Wings card. Performance enhancement?

sorry got avid and adobe mixed up there, thanks for pointing that out and @GorfTheChosen thats two variations of the targa pci card I think both low (with added daughter cards) and medium range but I'll had to recheck my notes placed elsewhere? I had been seriously wondering about one for...

    Wings card. Performance enhancement?

I wonder how a era-compatible copy of avid premiere from the garden site would had liked your setup considering that avid had been making their software compatible with system os and then-typical capture hardware options for quite awhile (then again there also was that "cutdown" avid videoshop...

PowerMac PCI System 7.5 Video Card Options

@croissantking yeah could be inclined to agree with that. and also as far as I recall yet, the 7.5-vs-7.6 debate seem to only be more reliable on pre-pci hardwares because it seem like certain nubus era things breaks under 7.6's different codebase pieces afaik

PM5400/5500 video upgrades? - internal display

I know its not quite the same thing but I guess that one could use a voodoo2 card to basically do ati>3dfx>tube 'loop' internally? as even a more basic card like that still has some particular improvements over the onboard chip I can't find the specific rage/voodoo one I know was out there but...

Found the 50MHz bus switch on Alchemy (5400/6400)

btw @Trash80toHP_Mini sorry what with everything going on offline-wise lately I probably got a bit mixed up, I was thinking more about re the "comm slot bus" hack to somehow get a working additional pci card instead which very likely might had as well as cut into the monitor/tv frame above where...

    A electrical question re CardBus

its only the voltage and minimum ampere that really matters as if you use a 5v 900ma adapter with a 5v 400ma device it'll simply only draw 400ma then (but trying use a 5v 300ma adapter may cause weird behaviour if it ever bothers wanting to initially function at all tho)

Found the 50MHz bus switch on Alchemy (5400/6400)

@Trash80toHP_Mini as far as I know of more or less for certain you need about 1.5mb (or round up to 2mb vram) to get 800x600 and 2.5mb (round up to 4mb as 3mb didn't seem to had been any sort of official size not surprisingly) to get 1024x768 in term of full million colour at either resolutions...

    Performa 5400 video resolution shenanigans

unrelated to 68kmla itself but @Trash80toHP_Mini is right as quite many laptops eg only do 1024x768 or even 800x600 internally but the vga port can actually do at least 1600x1200 if the external monitor in question indeed could utilize that otherwise

Found the 50MHz bus switch on Alchemy (5400/6400)

well technically a 6400/6500 logic board does fit into the desktop case but (as I have already thought about) the monitor-out and tv tuner bay both would have to be done away with tho to make use of a 2-pci riser instead of the 6360-default single-pci riser so its not exactly a "reversible hack"...

Found the 50MHz bus switch on Alchemy (5400/6400)

@Trash80toHP_Mini yeah I mean its not like if I could really want to find out what the board would actually think of trying to run a more simple windowed game at 1024x768 @ millions of colour .. but mm yeah that resolution+colour combination for texts&graphics was the main reason for regarding...

G3/350 (Slot Loading - Blueberry) Logic Board upgrade

other than for that the i/o panel had a few different variations (particularly with or without firewire port, especially that specific one cpu+firewire upgrade from sonnettech) and that you might have to recheck if the exact same flybacks/etc was extant between tray-days first and snowy last...

Found the 50MHz bus switch on Alchemy (5400/6400)

mm yeah @Powerbase can't argue with you, even then I kinda have to wonder.. 50mhz system bus, with 4mb vram, and either the default 2-pci or that "hack-in" 3-pci being all filled up one way or another = very blazing mac yet its still a desktop so it seem smaller than what it really is :-) *me...

Found the 50MHz bus switch on Alchemy (5400/6400)

wonder how come I never heard of this before but hmmm interesting, might make me rethink about these 6400 boards again if they indeed can handle 50mhz .. only if it wasn't for the vram but mm ah well say no more
