Surely! Pardon the flux. I'll try another couple of SD cards just in case. Also, I have a logic probe if that's of any value, but sadly no scope. I've been meaning to get one and learn how to use it for a while now. I'll also double-check my work on the board while I'm at it.

I've tested it on an SE and Classic running 7.0 and 7.1 respectively. I don't have an oscilloscope, unfortunately. :(

Alrighty - I got the PIC programmed (PICKit3) and formatted my card to (what I think are) correct specs aaand... nothing. The power LED lights up, but the activity LED does nothing; once into System 7, it doesn't appear to recognize that a disk is attached and in need of formatting. The series...

Not fdisk, lol; I don't know why it didn't occur to me to use that. I was just using the disk utility in MacOS, but it can't partition SD cards now, apparently. I'll have to dust off my Linux skills and give it a go with fdisk.

@tashtari How did you get your SD card formatted correctly? I'm having a dog of a time getting mine properly partitioned. :(

Which is what caught my eye initially - I mostly bought my TL866 to test 7400-series ICs (it's been a godsend for working on arcade boards), but when I saw it could also do the PIC for this, I was curious if it would actually do it successfully.

I've got both a TL866II+ and a PICKit 3. Hmm... now I kinda want to compare results between the two. Edit: Also, thanks!!! :)

@tashtari By any chance, would you happen to have a copy of the compiled firmware you could toss my way? I'm a bit unfamiliar with PIC programming (though I do have the resources to flash to IC) and I just want to compare my compiled version with a known good one.

OSHPark boards have shipped! I should have this together by the weekend for testing.

I'm waiting on boards to come back from OSHPark and will assemble one myself hopefully next week. I've got a Classic II that I can give this a go on.

Boards are already off to OshPark, so I'll make a will call pickup from Mouser sometime later this week at lunch and sit back until the PCBs arrive. Once I've got them, I'll update with photos of it in the HD20. I'm buying right angle 10x2 connectors to fit in the HD20 case, so it should go in...

Thanks for catching that - I'd have missed that completely! I'll pickup the 50mA variant in the mean time. And yep, gonna have to go with the E/P PIC for now as well. Boy oh boy, I can't wait until semiconductor production catches up in... (checks notes) years, if ever.

Yep - I'll probably leave the Rodime in it for weight, but the internal floppy drive connector will just connect straight into the TashTwenty. I think there's even just enough room for it to fit next to the logic board with no modifications and still be within reach of the cable. Not really a...
