Oh, related to the RAM test problem, does the BMOW ROM work on the Quadra 950, and if so, is there a patched variant that retains the stock Mac icon/boot screen? While I like the little pirate mac, I prefer my systems to look mostly stock.

I've got 7.6.1 installed currently, is AppleShare over IP installed by default? I just used the "everything" install option, and then custom selected everything that I could. Also that's nice to know about the ram check. Does this work for all Macs?

Yeah I could get a PowerPC machine (or hell, hook my 3400 to the internet), but I was going to turn my Quadra 950 into a serving machines for other macs. (That is, storing a ton of data on it and burning cds/making disks/network transferring to other macs).

What's the best balance of boot speed (since Macs check the entirety of the RAM or something like that before boot) and RAM amount for a Quadra 950? I want to be able to download files from say, Mac Garden and Mac Rep, but I don't want to toss an entire 256MB kit in it and have it take a year...

Yep! But the drive was free (friend of mine grabbed it at VCFW on the free pile), and it works, so hooray! To whoever looks in the future for this, skip the pioneer software and go straight for CDT. If you still want to use the pioneer software, check above. I believe that software should work...

I probably messed up the settings while attempting to turn it on. It’s a 1X drive so I shouldn’t expect too fast of a drive.

It works! It's REALLY REALLY slow though. In fact, i'm pretty sure it just crashed.

DRM-600 says its supported, and it also sees the drive. Gonna restart and see if it starts working now.

4.0 mentions that its PowerPC only, and I don't wanna waste a whole CD on this in case it doesn't work. Does 3.0.2d not have the same options?

I'm using a Quadra 950 with an almost fresh install of Mac OS 7.6.1. Currently trying to load CDT.

It's the program, but my disk changer might be broken. The program doesn't detect it and the disk changer just flashes its busy light at me. It does attempt to take the first disk upon startup, but the diver doesn't recognize the drive.

Think I may have found it packed in on Vogons. Testing it right now.

Does anyone have the "CLD Access" program mentioned for Pioneer 6 disk changers? I can only find the ones that came with the later mac clones, which state to use "CLD Access."

The Quadra 950 I bought recently is missing the key. It’s already set to power on, but I’m wondering if I could replace the lock cylinder with another one so that I can customize the key. Has anyone tried this?
