Now, what's going on with this iBook G4?

You can also burn a DVD or USB of Tiger yourself, if you'd like. Since you already own several copies (albeit currently non-functional ones) of Tiger, I see no reason why the copies of Tiger floating around the internet should not work. In fact, it is probably less risky to do it this way, as a...

    upgrading ROM for Macintosh II?

I may be wrong here, but I think that there is more to HD floppy support than just ROMs. I think there is a SWIM chip that also is required in addition to ROMS for this to work. I believe that this is how Mac SE floppy upgrades work, at least.

missing capacitors in IISI PSU by Plessey

Unfortunately, I think the only thing to do is to drill out all of the rivets. That was the only way I was able to open my magnetek PSU.

I'm considering buying a Macintosh SE/30, the seller said it has some defects. Is it worth it?

It only makes me wonder how many of my dead boards and chips are actually victims of poor ESD precautions instead of age. Whoops...

I'm considering buying a Macintosh SE/30, the seller said it has some defects. Is it worth it?

Thanks for sharing the video! I enjoyed watching it. Maybe it's time for me to get an ESD Mat instead of only using a wrist band. I suppose my dollar store toothbrushes are not very ESD friendly either.

I'm considering buying a Macintosh SE/30, the seller said it has some defects. Is it worth it?

The computer is nonfunctional, and in an unknown condition. It looks like it has had some work done to its motherboard, but the person performing the repair was unsuccessful. This means that there are lots of potential problems that you have no way of knowing about. Additionally, similar...

    Strange SE/30 Simasimac

Great! Is it okay that the error screen changed slightly between having RAM installed and not having RAM installed? It obviously remained nonfunctional either way. If I understand what you are saying here, the F258s are probably not an issue. Do we have a way to know if the Data bus or Address...

Here is a photo of what happens without the RAM installed:

    Strange SE/30 Simasimac

Do you think it would make sense to replace all of the F258 chips? I have already swapped the UA8 through UG8 chips. I also have another dead SE/30 to swap parts with. I'm not sure what I should try replacing, or which ICs are relevant here, though.

    Strange SE/30 Simasimac

I just checked all of these address lines again, and I found no breaks. Here you go! Sorry about the previous photo's quality. I couldn't make out a mouse cursor or a blinking floppy on the screen.

SoundSticks - Speaker replacement..not that bad

These are the capacitors I was referring to. Here is a list of all of the parts I replaced in my SoundSticks II's:

How to transfer data from pc to my mac lc III via null modem?

What an interesting idea! I can't believe I've never thought of this before!

SoundSticks - Speaker replacement..not that bad

I also have a pair of formerly broken SoundSticks II. My speakers were full of leaky capacitors, which were causing all kinds of speaker balance/volume related issues. Many of the capacitors were bulging and oozing red goop. I recapped then about two months ago, and they have been working...

    Strange SE/30 Simasimac

Unfortunately, I only have a multimeter to check these lines at the moment. I'll have to double-check the CPU-GLU address lines tomorrow to confirm that everything is working correctly, but no problems were detected on my first pass today.

    Strange SE/30 Simasimac

Yes -all of these connections are working correctly. Apart from connections going to and from the PDS socket, I tested every possible connection for both the address and data buses, and they were all good. @techknight mentioned checking control lines, but I'm not sure how to test these/where...

    Strange SE/30 Simasimac

@techknight It took me a long time to get around to it, but I just buzzed out the both the address bus and the data bus from the ROM on this motherboard. I used the matrices from the modernized schematics, which were a big help. Strangely, I did not find any breaks in either of the buses. I...

Reverse Engineering the Macintosh SE PCB & Custom Chips for 1:1 reproduction

I think so! I think it would be nice to be able to build these new boards with as many or few original parts as possible.

    SE/30 Troubleshooting Aid -J12 Jumper

https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/molex/0766500088/2115964 I used two packages of these and some 24 gauge wire. The connectors as well as the metal pins are included. I used a pair of pliers to crush the metal tabs onto the wires. I have no idea what the correct way to do this is, but...

    SE/30 Troubleshooting Aid -J12 Jumper

I made an extension cable with about $20 worth of parts from Digikey. It makes troubleshooting much more convenient as I don't have to reinstall the board between each test.
