As requested... Some of the new features in 1.5.1 :)
- A full top Apple Menu bar
- The ability to override assigned the values based on CPU detection
-...
A few screenshots from the next update...
Someone suggested I add a top Apple MenuBar, which was a great idea as it allows me a clean, 'mac-ish' way for the player to adjust the settings of the game to fit their specific hardware. Great idea! 🥳
The game uses the the machine's gestalt ID to try...
Howdy Phipli,
Main reason / excuse.. time.
Working as a full time Firefighter and then taking the kids to their various sports and activities (no regrets, love it!) leaves very little down time to play with 40 year old software. 🙃
As for "explicitly blamed a standard Mac website", since the...
Hi nathall, I'm sorry it's doing that, but thanks for testing! 🙃
I see the app's icon isn't showing either, so I'll have to create a system 7.6.1 environment and try to replicate it.
The highest I've tested with is 7.5.5, not that the System version might be the issue.
There's a good chance...
One more update...
CRITICAL UPDATE
666 was found in one of the compiled versions, so I'm replacing everything with this verified CLEAN version.
Good lesson to double check the free downloads of dev tools from the standard mac websites.
The game itself and the source code .SIT archives...
CRITICAL UPDATE v1.9.2
No new features.
Just an updated ABOUT window, and unfortunately 666 was found in my last release (1.9.1)!
1.9.2 is a 100% clean build.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience and annoyance.
Never even thought about viruses in the Dev tool's I've been getting from the...
Attached is the updated 68030 optimized version of pewpew.c
Just rename the file to pewpew.c and place it with the other resources in your CodeWarrior PewPew project.
I have an FTP server setup on my Synology NAS. I use Fetch on the SE/30 (with a ZuluSCSI Slim w/Wifi) to connect to the FTP site, and on my modern OSX machine, I just open the share where the FTP root folder lives.
Works well.
Hi Everyone!
Development testing update version - 68030 👈
Pre-release 1.5.0
I made some (I think) pretty major revisions, refinements, probably errors 🙃, and changes to quite a bit of the code to try and get PewPew running fast on 68030 machines.. I think I was, at least partially, successful...
haha, sweet! and you're welcome!
Here's a LINK to a site with dozens of old school Macintosh programming textbooks in PDF format.
But, please ask anything! No guarantee it's the proper way to do something, but it worked! 😂
I thin it's awesome more people are interested in writing for this...
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the kind word and support on my game!
I'm glad so many people are enjoying it!
It was a lot of fun to make, learned a lot, forgot even more... 😂
I put together a little package that contains a fully commented version of the C source, as well as the full CodeWarrior PRO...
Let me know how 7.1 behaves for you.
Now that the game is 'done' to a state that it's playable and I'm happy with, I'm starting to play with optimizing for 030 (?020?) :)
Source in next post down :)
I wonder who that was? Curse that handsome devil! 😂 🙃
I actually left the sampling playback at 22050Hz but I think in a future version, to try and help with CPU cycles, I'll add a menu option to drop it to 11025Hz.
Plus.. it's Jester! Stardust Memories is such a classic. 🥳
Thanks for the...
I did try using HEXEdit (LINK) to copy the data over at one point, but was unsuccessful. 😢
That's when I started playing with the solution outlined above and thought I'd share / document it for others who were having similar troubles, and not spend a bunch of time trying the same unsuccessful...
Hi Everyone
While developing my Operation : Pew Pew game, I ran into an obstacle that caused me quite a bit of headache, until I discovered a very slick, and easy way to overcome a software bug/limitation.
I thought I'd share / document the process here, in case someone else has this problem...
Not 100% sure about THINK C, but is the debugger turned on?
If so, I kinda remember something about it having it's own menus that it can insert into the menu bar for that purpose that might use some of IDs you're using? (wild guess). Maybe try moving your IDs to something astronomical, like...
