Yes, they can talk fine using a “printer” cable, which is mini DIN-8 crossover.

The ftp server is still operational, so for now you can download it from there if you want to try it out. As far as a license goes, that's another story. I doubt they will take a $50 check and send you a license key now. You'd have to find someone with a cracked PPC version and PM them.
