I had a couple with AM28F010s, swapped them to AM29F040B (non LV) and they programmed fine with the Mac app and work great. Is there any reason to use a 512K ROM on these since they have room, versus the 128K ROM?

You can also do it with the built in camera app on the iPhone. Make sure the "Live" icon is enabled. Then later when browing the photo, select "Live" in the upper left corner and then "Long Exposure"

Another way is to get a PCI Radeon 7000 with DVI and put it into a PCI slot on the 6500. Then use a DVI to HDMI cable and a cheap HDMI capture stick. I’ve been able to capture the screen this way

I have NiMHs in my 640 CD. The voltage is lower but it doesn't seem to care. They can leak but not nearly as often or as much as alkalines.

That means 3.3V supply, but accepts 3.3V or 5V inputs. See table C.7.1 in the datasheet addendum. They cannot run on more than 3.6V supply.

The bixpower adapters work with my clamshell, with a generic 24V 3A supply.

Yes, I would think a PC133, PC100, or PC66 would all work.

Is your 512 MB a PC100 or a PC133? OWC only lists the PC100 as compatible with the clamshell, which I think is wrong. But if it's a PC133, maybe that's the issue. I have a 256 MB that works in my tangerine clamshell, if I decide to upgrade I suppose I could send it to you.

My Performa 640 DOS Compatible makes this sound very infrequently, even after being recapped. I’d love to understand why. I like the suggestion of removing the sound card on the DOS card. I could do if for mine, but it would be difficult to tell if it made a difference.

I had one in worse shape than that, recapped it. It would only power on if I flipped the power four or five times. Washed the board, dried it, put it back in. Powers on every time now.

I have a couple just like that. Likely because they worked in macs? But it's been so long, I don't remember. I can throw one in a Mac and see if it shows up.

The only option left for ethernet is a CS II ethernet card. If you have other macs, you can set up a LocalTalk network, but it’s slow and difficult to configure if you want to browse the web. For copying files it just works though.

I've never used any with mine, they don't get very hot and the metal to metal contact is pretty good. But, officially, you should probably use some paste or a thermal pad :)
