    recommend me a ... Printer

A Personal LaserWriter NT is essentially a LaserJet IIP with the PostScript and JetDirect AppleTalk module installed. Decent printer, albeit slow, compared to modern printers. Basically a page every 15 seconds. A LaserWriter IINTX or IIf/IIg model would also be good, but will definitely need...

    recommend me a ... Printer

And, the Apple LaserWriter printers are based on the same Canon guts that HP used on their LaserJet printers, so the same availability for toner and refurbishment kits applies to the equivalent LaserWriter.

Mac SE: system error when sound plays on very old games (but Mac is not frozen)

Probably would be worth sticking with 3.2 and older on those early games. More likely to function correctly. Suspect the game is expecting to have its code loaded into a certain memory address and gets confused with System 4.1 and higher.

    Mac iisi nubus issues

Looks like there is the bomarc schematic... In any case, that area does look rather gunky.

    Mac iisi nubus issues

Maybe something between the PDS and the processor got damaged by the mouse pee. Some of the chips near the PDS look kinda gunky.

    Starts if pressed on side

Yes. One of the 512K machines I owned in 2012 did have issues.

My small, quick and hacky #MARCHintosh 2025 project

Stands for this month. ;-P There's a whole thread on TD about this year's projects. https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/marchintosh-2025-projects.4174/

LC III vs LC III+ vs Performa 467

The 475 I had was this way. I wound up installing a M0350's case lid on it, so it said "Macintosh LC", then "Performa 475" underneath. That meant that it had the indentation that went all the way to the edges, plus the plastic plug that filled the second floppy drive slot. Thought it looked...

An IIsi in my SE/30? It's more likely than you think!

Nice. Theoretically, I bet that if a 9" color screen was installed, it might just display 8-bit color.

    IIcx no boot

The typical bodge wires I see are either 20 gauge or 22 gauge. So, a little thicker than the individual conductor from an ethernet cable.

    IIcx no boot

I would go ahead and try the bodge. If it doesn't work, then it's time for another board, either a reloaded board, a good stock board, or modify the back panel and drop in a Centris/Quadra 650 board.

What I've received as of late...

^Nice. Anyhoo, 7100/80 has been completed, except for that one jumper I need to pull from the CD-ROM drive, and the need for the correct power harness with the pigtail for the cooling fan that goes above the processor. Pic is in the "What Did You Do To Your Apple/Mac Today?" thread.

    IIci/IIci/IIcx trouble

Probably could burn new PROM chips and install those on the board. Or, find a good set and swap those in, other than using a ROM SIMM.

    IIci/IIci/IIcx trouble

Might be time to try a ROM SIMM... Had a IIcx many years ago that would do the chime, then sad Mac. Put a IIfx ROM SIMM in and it booted up.

What I've received as of late...

Compared to a stock IIci, it's faster, even when the Turbo 601 is running in emulation mode.

Looking for model numbers for stock drives in certain clones

The MPC-LX200 looks to be equipped with a Quantum Fireball SCSI 1.2GB drive. MO drive is a 640MB unit, probably made by Fujitsu. The GX1 is a modified 6100/66, so it'll either be a LPS540S, Maverick 540, or a Fireball 540, formatted as a 500MB drive, as per usual. GX1 Limited looks to have a...

Anyone ever try using OpenTransport on a Mac II?

^I dual boot mine. 7.5 for System 7 activities, and 6.0.8 for System 6 activities. Installed the Desktop Manager INIT in the System 6 system folder, so it uses the System 7 style Desktop DB and DF files, instead of adding the older Desktop file.

What I've received as of late...

Picked up the 7100/66. Needed a lot of work, due to a Centris 650 with a bombed Maxell being stored atop it. Saved what was/is good. Got a 7100/80 coming to replace it.
