    Oversized HDD with Mac IIsi?

Interesting; that's good to know. Thank you!

    Oversized HDD with Mac IIsi?

Have a 9GB scsi HDD I’m trying to use with a IIsi. I can boot from a CD image on a ZuluSCSI to format and install an OS. When I initialize the drive I get a prompt about volume size, so I create a 1GB volume. It mounts, I install an OS, and then… nothing. It won’t boot from the volume and if I...

Hi; any chance you have a link for that multipack? I’m in the same boat. 😀

    AppleCD 300i Replacement Belts?

Hi, I've got an AppleCD 300i Plus, (Matsushita CR-503-K) in my Quadra 650 which works, but only mostly. It reads cds fine, and will eject the tray when there's a CD in it ok. But if I hit the tray button when the drive is empty, the tray sticks and I have to tap the left side of the tray to get...

    My IIsi is not booting

You might want to check all the traces going in and out of the onboard RAM; those are used for VRAM. (U[F|G|H|I][6|7]) A lot of people seem to end up having to replace the chips. C9/C10/C11 are required for sound to work; if you're getting anything weird sound-wise, you might have to resolder...

Found the 50MHz bus switch on Alchemy (5400/6400)

Damn, I'm glad that card still worked after all that time in storage! Nice fix, too!

    ATX adapter weirdness

I ended up replacing my IIsi PSU with the template board from Caymac Vintage, the “Power Up IIsi.” Works great. I only had a 90w PicoATX to use with it (250w is suggested I guess) but it works fine and powers a nubus adapter with an FPU installed. So a big thank you to Caymac is in order. Some...

    SE/30 Trace Checklist?

Shoot, thanks! 🙏 I was going off the old Apple schematics scans. They didn’t have that. 🤓

    SE/30 Trace Checklist?

Basically I'm trying to create a spreadsheet that catalogs which things should be reachable from what, so I can check continuity from each pin of a few core components (CPU/RAM/ROM and a few others) to 3-4 other points, and have a pretty good idea whether traces are broken or not. And then I...

    ATX adapter weirdness

Hi. So, I had a small batch of these made, using the coupons and stuff that pcbway offers new users, it was like $2 each for 10: https://www.bigmessowires.com/2023/09/27/atx-to-mac-10-pin-power-supply-adapter-kit/ I've assembled six of them so far, and they all work in my Quadra, but only one...

Recapped my 128k analog board, now it turns on but the display won't show anything

I had similar problems and it turned out to be a short. Grab a continuity tester and check to make sure all the adjacent pins on the stuff you soldered don’t have continuity between them. Good luck!

Mac SE/30 only sees 1024kb of ram regardless of the ram attached on either bank?

There’s a chip responsible for detecting ram simm size; it was called out in a recent repair video Adrian’s Digital Basement did on YouTube but I don’t remember which one it was. If you zip through his last video on the se/30 he was repairing it’s in the second half I think.

    SE/30 ROM SIMM diagram?

Cleaning up a bombed SE/30 and there was enough gunk on the ROM that I took it apart to clean it. (As well as ordering a new simm socket for it.) I damaged/tore one (1) solder pad on it, which is actually good for me, and I can bodge it easily enough but can’t figure out where it’s supposed to...

IIRC there are relay "noisemakers" you can attach to an activity light on an SSD or SCSI2SD type device, which make pretty similar sounds to the r/w head activity. For the constant whir I guess just add a quiet fan?

    SuperMac Thunder/24 Help?

7.1 didn't change the behavior. I found a couple damaged pins on one of the ICs and they were in contact. Tried to bend them back but they broke off so now it doesn't even sort of work. :-( Ashes to ashes I guess. :-(

    SuperMac Thunder/24 Help?

Three, and I tried in two of the three. In the third the card bumps into the reset switch and doesn’t set right. (It’s loooong.)

    SuperMac Thunder/24 Help?

Would a problem with that interrupt indicate an issue with the hardware or more likely to be a config problem like an incorrect refresh rate or VGA adapter setting?
