Mac Classic -- horizontal bars after recap, -12V problem

HI, low voltages or High voltages can be a sign of a bad optoisolator, so i will replace it first with the two diodes that are in the neighborhood DP3 and DP4 (1N4148) Don't have the reference right now but probably CNY17G Keep in mind that the 12 volts line is important but the 5 volts is the...

    Replacement carrier for 344S0603-B

This board seems to have a battery bomb issue in the first place, not impossible to fix but be prepared to a lot of work.

Macintosh 128k with mods by Julian Systems

The capacitor is a 105 unit so a 0.1 µf and probabaly broken (not intentionaly) better replaced it, not hard at all. Concerning the AB board,, have seen worse (and was working fine) and far better (and not working at all) i will clean the tarnished areas with white vinegar, and touch up the...

Picking up a mystery Classic II tomorrow.

Yes, this area, the sound chip is the one near both switches (DFAC) but have a look on the other side of the board, probably a broken trace there.

Two new half-life-less PowerBooks (100 and 170) - any help diagnosing?

Concerning HDD, if you are lucky enough there is chances you can have the cover removed and have them repaired. Conner drives are easy to repair most of the time, there is a trick to get them working again with little work. other brands are mostly only bad due to stuck heads. those drives are...

Two new half-life-less PowerBooks (100 and 170) - any help diagnosing?

Both hardisks are bad or need to be repaired. at some point you should get to the blinking folder. The 170 seems ok, the 100 screen should be recaped, and the Logic board also (so far it's working roughly)

Apple IIe Card: An Apple IIe INSIDE my Macintosh LC475!

Cap juice can go under the main connector, so can be an issue with a broken trace or pin. Yes the internal drive is working, but I don’t think this one is managed the same way, as the internal rely on the LC logic board, probably not the external one. Maybe you can check for any continuity...

Apple IIe Card: An Apple IIe INSIDE my Macintosh LC475!

Hi, found those pictures from my own setup (was 2018 !!) time is flying. IIRC the odd resolution is required and mandotory, not only for the LC monitors, but also for the Macintosh Classic Color (Colour) that can also use the card.

Apple IIe Card: An Apple IIe INSIDE my Macintosh LC475!

Works, for sure, but you are losing the Apple II spirit and look. Have one in a machine, but if i want to go for an Apple II experience, will have my IIe instead. Pretty neat device to be honest, you have got the best of both worlds in a single package, but this little card is pretty hard to...

    Floppy Drive - Wisdom needed.

Hi, are you sure the SE is really a FDHD ? and has the appropriate ROMS and SWIM ? The Logic Board could have been swapped at some point with the former LB, here the information with the newer chips original chip replace with 342-0352-A HI ROM 342-0701 HI ROM 342-0353-A LO...

Mac Classic video waving and boots after 2 min

Common issue on Classic AB , leaky diodes at DP3 and DP4 + nearby capacitor, can also be the Optoisolator, worth replacing all 3. https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/low-voltage-classic.7708/#post-91632

An IIsi in my SE/30? It's more likely than you think!

Yes, not impossible but probably with a lot of work to create a Frankenstein board.

Macintosh Color Classic occasional screen instability/brightness jump

Hi, your best option is to monitor the voltage rails at the Molex connector while booting. Those diodes are always cooked, but not bad most of the time.
