Memory adventure: MicroMac SIMMdoubler II and 68851 MMU in a Macintosh II

Thanks a lot. BTW looking for a RC16A 68882, I found RC50A branded chips. I wonder how much legit they are, but in case, it could be that there were faster models in the end.

Memory adventure: MicroMac SIMMdoubler II and 68851 MMU in a Macintosh II

Maybe this brings us a bit OT, but: I have a 68881 installed in my Mac II, and a 68882 ready, that I would put once I can get PAL SIMMs and increase RAM over 8mb - BUT : it is a RC40A, so it should run at 40MHz (instead of the 68881 speed of 16Mhz). I guess that due to the system / bus speed...

Macintosh II supporting more than 8MB of RAM issues

I have had the 68851 PMMU ready for months while waiting for these PAL SIMMs, so today I wrote to Garrett on Tindie, to ask if some new batch would be coming anytime soon. Maybe @David Cook if you write too, we can make a bit of a pressure and maybe convince him? I even proposed to make 16MB...

    OrangePC 290

Thanks @jeremywork that copy of the page with jumper settings brought back my card from the dead! It would be great if anybody archived the whole site... I have another 290 card that the app says is not functioning correctly, I get an error code 11 and I wonder what it stands for.

Apple Macintosh 16" Color Display + Modifications

I love LCD conversions of CRTs. I have components sitting in my garage to convert my Apple IIgs CRT (which takes a step more, with a PI zero doing HDMI conversion of RGB signals...) but I definitely need more time... and maybe a competent eye close to me, when I will open the CRT to discharge...

    Physically-Damaged IIfx Motherboard Repair

I am arriving late at the (thread) party, but so to say, there are at least a couple offers here on the board, for new IIfx SIMMs and I bought 128Mb from one with total satisfaction and reasonable price.

Using Magneto Optical drives on vintage 68k Macs

Here we go with some results: the Sony SMO-F551 worked with Disk Drive Tune-Up 3.41 out of the box, without even installing any extension, with both SCSI external enclosures - so it was definitely the first drive (Sony SMO-F541) which was somehow faulty. Anyone interested in getting it? ;) I...

Using Magneto Optical drives on vintage 68k Macs

Meanwhile I took the drive out of the enclosure and I am noticing two sets of dip switches at the end of it... everything was set ON and I couldn't find a manual online - I found the f551 manual which has its own switch infos and I am thinking about trying to fiddle a bit with them, but I am...

Using Magneto Optical drives on vintage 68k Macs

these disks are double sided, so the max size is 1.3gb per side... it should be within limits, but I am installing 7.5 to give it a try anyway.

Using Magneto Optical drives on vintage 68k Macs

Hello everybody, I am fighting with a Sony SMO - F541 drive in an external SCSI enclosure: the drive is seen in the SCSI chain on my 7.1.1 IIfx (with the proper "black terminator"), but it seems to be unsupported: I tried all the software mentioned here in the thread to format some 2.6Gb disks...
