If you are interested and can get it, I need a replacement as my old MH's pen got cracked in a move and is unfixable :( , but i'm looking for a full set... it's a decent device, but lack of levels, and battery-based stylus makes it far inferior to a wacom tablet for artistic purposes.

nabbed a dead (GLOD) 2400c on ebay to use as parts for my original one that still works, but neede new plastics, and the seller contacted me that he had a second one for parts also with GLOD, both were in decent cosmetic shape, and managed to convert the 3 parts/dead systems into 2 complete...

Given that they were the highest-spec'd, and priced 68k PowerBooks made.. this would be rather obvious, but as for best.. I'd disagree ... BUT... t really depends on your target use. 500's weigh a ton and lacked the better control that trackballs offer.
