That’s what I mean, on the IIx (and SE/30) there was an issue with the way 32 bit addressing worked.. I wonder if that may be introducing some kind of incompatibility. You don’t happen to have access to a Mac that had the same ROM slot but had a 32 bit clean module do you?

I have a prototype PowerBook 550c, and the logic board in it is a stock one from a 540c (I think from memory it’s a rev A.. I’m guessing when they made it they just took an existing 540c they had sitting around and replaced a few components), and the video works fine on that one.

The PowerBook 2300 stickers above the keyboard? If so yes, that PowerBook 2300 has been upgraded from an older one, probably a 280. The 2300 from the factory came with the trackpad rather than trackball, but the upgrade kit that Apple made available re-used the existing trackball mechanism...

I need to fix my Iicx. It works fine, except the floppy interfaces don't. I can't remember what exactly I found when I was diagnosing it.. but I remember it was a weird issue that didn't seem to make sense. I have my Iicx hooked up to a 21" Apple Studio Display.. it may be slightly overkill 🙂

I had to cannibalise two broken units to get one working, but I’m glad I’ve now got one! Well, it was in a large house in a very rough part of Newcastle (apparently there was a big riot there in the early 90s and half of it was demolished after it) so maybe they felt safer having stuff hidden!
