It's a must if you have a 200W+ CPU that needs to be kept cool. G5's like the 2.5 MC have a TDP of 125W which today is easy to air cool with a few heat pipes, its wasn't the norm when Apple was designing the G5 (just aluminum or copper fins and fans).

I figured the only people that cared about those adapters were people looking to make a gaming PC from an old server motherboard that was PCI-X only. So, there was a brief period of time somebody would have wanted one. Kind of like PATA to SCSI adapters.
I have a battery bombed IIvx I snagged to put a Quadra 650 motherboard into. Found the Quadra board at a recycler ages ago and the IIvx was offered for shipping because it was toast (back in 2015). Time flies.

Max is 2MB VRAM, the very high end NUBUS cards were 3-6MB I think.
Built in video on a Quadra is plenty fast but color depth gets limited because of VRAM.
